Popped here for a quick bite over lunch, but glad I didn't have anything else first, as the waffle with ice cream on was very filling. I imagined this as a dessert place, but just the one course will keep you going for a long time! It tasted good although was a bit slow being served as the waiter didn't have a great knowledge of the menu, but was polite and friendly. View all feedback.
What barnesjheidi doesn't like about Gelato Joe's Newbury:
The food took ages to come and when it didn't it was burnt and cold. It looked nice but it's what's on the inside that counts and it tasted grim. Used to be good but now it's bad View all feedback.
Having had mixed responses about here, we decided to try it for ourselves. The desserts were to die for, absolutely delicious. The staff were friendly, especially a lad called Ed who was really bubbly and cheerful. Will definatly go back again soon.
I took my daughter to Gelato Joe's, as a treat, but I was distinctly underwhelmed by the service and by the product. I ordered a waffle, with strawberry ice cream and strawberries, which I had seen on another lady's plate and thought looked good. However, when mine arrived, it was nothing like what I'd seen on her plate. there was less of everything except the waffle itself. My daughter had a crepe. She cannot eat creme, so I told them she couldn't have the whipped cream and was offered a scoop of vanilla ice cream as a substitute. That seemed fine, until I found that they had charged me £1.40 for a single scoop of vanilla ice cream! I'd not go again. Having been to another ice cream parlour, in Eastbourne, recently, this experience has shown me that Gelato Joe's is definitely not a good example of the genre
I came here on the 28th of may and it was the best place ever so good i had a waffle with half of it nuts and half chocolate mint x so good xx
We have visited Gelato Joe’s on a handful of occasions since it opened in Parkway, Newbury in 2014 and each every visit has not disappointed. This time my son chose ‘Nutty and Nice’ freshly made waffle with all its accompaniment which he devoured within minutes. As always, service and attention to detail was spot on. Mr. T who took over the consession 2 years ago suggests business is booming and he hopes to open a branch in High Wycombe later this year. Carry on the good work!
Having purchased a scoop of ice cream in a pot, my son discovered a very long hair in it. Unfortunately, I was unable to return to complain as the discovery was made in the car. Absolutely disgusting and will be avoiding in the future!
