Recently taken over by a lovely lady who also was one of our wait staff, this used to be mexican (hence the name) but now is serving very authentic Italian. This place ticked all the boxes for me. The Sunday we went an acoustic duo played some chilled tunes, the winter sun shone in, the wait staff friendly and attentive and the food.....mmm sooo good. Reasonably priced too. With a bottle of good red wine, we stayed for hours.
This would have to be the most expensive, disgusting meal that we have ever had! Let's start with the only positive, the stuffed mushrooms were delicious although expensive at $17 for 4! After that the evening seriously disintegrated . We waited 30 minutes for hard, tasteless potato croquettes, brown tasteless Arancini then another 60 minutes for mains. The gnocchi Gorgonzola had obviously been sitting on the counter as it had developed a skin on the sauce! The Amatriciana Ragu was justvwarm and apart from a few pieces of burnt bacon was tasteless , this was sent back and returned steaming from being microwaved. The eggplant stack was the worst as it was frozen in the middle!! This was returned to the kitchen and a smaller portion was returned after a wait of 30 minutes. We also had 2 Aperol spritzer which were mainly ice plus 2 Coronas, the bill was $178.....Outrageous. DO NOT VISIT.
Went here in the morning with some friends for breakfast. Food was good, but service incredibly slow considering it was only at 25% capacity. Went back for a set menu lunch, service was ridiculously slow, when waiting over an hour for our entree, I asked how much longer food would be, the waiter snapped at me! When mains came, the calamari I ordered was so over cooked it was like chewing on a piece of hardened rubber. It also tasted a bit off. I spat it out, and only at the chips. My daughters meals was plain penne and Napolitana sauce, a lemonade and a small scoop of ice cream, and that was nearly $30!!! For 3 of us, waiting a total of over 90 minutes for each meal, 50% was pretty average, I could not believe it cost nearly $200!!! Would not go there again, possibly only an early morning breakfast!
The staff at this restaurant is incredibly friendly. On Thursdays, they offer Paella Night which features a delicious paella packed with flavor and meat. The wine selection may not be extensive, but it is of high quality. Additionally, there is a lovely fire at the restaurant.
One of the highlights of this restaurant was the fact that everything we ordered was made fresh. We enjoyed the Arancini balls, Harissa Chicken, Carbonara, and Margherita pizza, and it was difficult to choose a favorite. The seasoning on the chicken enhanced the dish perfectly, while the pizza was wonderfully soft with a delicious blend of herbs and basil. And let's not forget about the dessert - the mango and almond cheesecake was absolutely divine. We all loved it! Our children especially enjoyed the ice cream sundae with chocolate toppings.
