Delicious food. Very busy but service was attentive. Good prices and portion size. Would return. Only negative they need to lose some grassed areas (that no one sits on) and make more parking bays and tell you when you sot down what they have run out of (cod and chicken roast) View all feedback.
What Henryka doesn't like about The Red Lion:
The restaurant was busy on a Saturday lunchtime, as expected on a sunny day, but the service was quite poor. Despite having enough waiting staff, there seemed to be a lack of kitchen staff. I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. My friend and I opted for the 2-course lunch deal. The service was excellent and the food was well prepared and well presented. I would definitely come back again.
The restaurant was busy on a Saturday lunchtime, as expected on a sunny day, but the service was quite poor. Despite having enough waiting staff, there seemed to be a lack of kitchen staff. We waited almost an hour for our main courses, without having had starters. Three out of four of us ordered the fish and chips, which were disappointing. The piece of cod was small and mostly covered in batter. The fourth person ordered the sea bass, which was very dry. Overall, it was not a place we would choose to return to, even though the pub is local to us.
The service was good overall, with a rating of about 8 out of 10. The food was delicious, but for a Sunday lunch, the portion size was extremely small. Only two small roast potatoes for adult men is disappointingly inadequate. At a price of over £20 per person, it was a shame that the portion sizes left everyone still hungry. Despite the nice food, the lack of satisfaction on such a special occasion was disappointing.
Found the management on shift pretty rude and incompetent. I was served a Baileys latte plonked on the bar just the glass no saucer, spoon etc which when you’re paying around £5 for a Coffee to have after dinner you expect atleast a little bit of effort. It took forever to get any service for a night that wasn’t that busy and she did not consider our presence then rudely said “I’ll be with you in a minute” in a brash tone. My friend when she ordered the food also witnessed her rudely speak to one of the staff about providing us with cutlery and refusing to do so herself though the food took a long time luckily it was adequate though we did have to ask for one of our meals that never came out and was questioned if we was sure we ordered it. I am fond of the pub and used to work here myself so I am very aware of the standards expected by the Customer and have now found it now met by this particular member of management every time I have visited.
The food is always lovely and the service was brilliant. Our Hostess Austeja couldn’t do enough for us! Would also recommend the Red Lion if you are hosting a birthday or any other special event!
