What SueWithaView likes about The Place To Eat:
Lunched here with my friend and had a great catch up. We had the Moroccan chicken soup. It was so delicious that I'm going to look up a recipe and attempt to cook it myself. It was accompanied by a large chunk of bread and butter. This was followed by a lovely hot coffee and lemon tart. The lemony flavour was a perfect balance between sweet and sharp. View all feedback. What uzespourmoi doesn't like about The Place To Eat:
Arrived 4.30 on 3rd January. Café open until 6.30. Visit spoiled by cashier who was rude and abrupt. What has happened to John Lewis's excellent staff selection and training process that this person slipped through the net? In addition, the cake selection was practically non-existent for somewhere with two hours still to run. Should have gone to Bebo. Will next time. View all feedback.

read moreThe Place to Eat at John Lewis serves up a variety of dishes amidst differing experiences. While some customers had a disappointing time due to rude staff and subpar food, others enjoyed the delicious Moroccan chicken soup and lemon tart. The café's ambiance is a bit dated, but the efficient and cheerful service from staff like Val shines through. Prices are high but quality is assured, making it a good spot for a quick bite or coffee break. Overall, mixed reviews but a generally pleasant experience for those looking for a cozy spot in a bustling shopping environment.
