Costa - Welwyn Hatfield

Costa is a well known coffee chain across the UK and serves a premium blend for a premium price. Naturally when you visit your expectations are slightly higher as you are looking at paying near on £4 per drink! We visited on a Saturday afternoon, the shop was fairly busy and the queue was about 10 customers long. We had to queue for a while as only one till is in operation here and it seemed there was a case of more cooks behind the counter. The seating area is well laid out for such a small place, however staff leave tables uncleared, often leaving customers to do it themselves. If you sit near to the front door during the winter, don't take your coat off! With the doors being automated and the Costa sharing a building with a busy Next store, the doors are constantly open. The quality of the coffee is good, but the staff just need to brush up on a few things. We will visit again and hopefully see a difference.

This Costa is just like any other, offering the usual menu and drinks you would expect. However, what sets this location apart is the exceptionally friendly and welcoming staff. Despite the rainy weather, the staff greeted everyone with lots of smiles. Kudos to the Costa staff for their excellent service.

I have visited this restaurant many times, but the coffee always tastes strange. I have had to return my coffee every time I come here. I usually love Costa coffee and always drink it there, but this will be my last visit to this shop in Hatfield. I keep coming back hoping it will improve, but the first coffee I ordered was awful, and the second was just as bad. Maybe there is something wrong with the machine. I didn't feel right about returning the second one, but I told the staff and they offered to make me a new one. The staff is friendly and it's not their fault, but I suggest the management have someone try the coffee here because it doesn't taste right.

I stopped at this Costa location on my way to Hatfield. The staff, as always, were great. The service was fast and I chose to sit inside, although there is the option to sit outside under cover closer to the Galleria. The coffee had a good flavor and the overall atmosphere was pleasant. I would definitely visit again.
