The Crooked Dock - Wellsburg
The Crooked Dock
Description
Perched on the Ohio River, this casual riverfront bar and restaurant is beloved for giant portions, hearty cheesesteaks, fries and a lively summer vibe with indoor/outdoor seating and boat docks. Regulars praise the food and waterfront atmosphere, but many note slow, inconsistent service, long waits, higher post‑COVID prices and poor tap water. Best for groups, boaters and casual nights out — come hungry, bring patience, and consider bottled drinks.

My experiences at this restaurant have been consistently disappointing. The beer is often expired, and when I bring it to their attention, the staff responds with an attitude. The food arrives cold and lacks flavor, and the service is frustratingly slow. I've visited three or four times, and it's always the same story. When management finally comes out to address my concerns, they do so with disrespect and defensiveness rather than seeking to improve the situation. Overall, it's been a very unsatisfactory dining experience.
Really good bar foods, fresh and fried. The patio area is really nice and I'm glad to see how clean the area is. Price is a little steep but it's worth it
I do not recommend this restaurant. I ordered a salad and a hoagie, but after waiting an hour, my food never arrived. Other groups around me were served, finished their meals, and left while I was still waiting.
I've been here twice now while on vacation since I have family near by. The first time we ordered steaks since they were on special, 3 of us had to send ours back as they were severely well done when we all ordered medium. Not only that, the wait for food was sooooo long. The second time again the wait for our food was so long, customer service was really lacking. We went for lunch, I ordered the fish and chips special, my boyfriend ordered the Italian hoagie, kids ordered hot dog, grilled cheese, hoagie, and wings. We were there for 1 hour and 45 minutes. This is too long for a lunch. The ONLY reason I'm giving them 2 stars is because of their epic proportions. They're so large. Order food and split it. If you order salad you can split with 4 people. It's ridiculously large.
Could be a really cool spot right on the Ohio river. This is a fun bar in the summer (I celebrated my 21st birthday here actually! . Drinks and food used to be really reasonably priced, but have definitely skyrocketed since covid. They used to have dinner but it looks like it has been taken off the menu, probably due to food and staff shortages. The other food used to be pretty good, but I've heard bad things recently. I would come here and hang out for a drink but maybe skip the food. Service has always been slow here, even long before the pandemic, and the two times I have been here since covid it has definitely been even slower paced.
