We really enjoyed this charming traditional English tea room! The staff were knowledgeable about vegan options and were more than happy to discuss any potential food allergies before we placed our order. We tried some of the delicious vegan sandwiches and found them to be excellent, and the staff were incredibly friendly. The prices were great too! It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. What TheGingerDays doesn't like about Mrs B's Tearoom:
We decided to have lunch at this restaurant based on positive reviews from Happy Cow. While it was the best choice in the area, it didn't exceed our expectations. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich and my boyfriend had the bacon sandwich, both made with Quorn-style mock meats. It's easy to replicate these sandwiches at home, but we appreciated having the option while dining out. The restaurant had a tempting displa... View all feedback.
I really enjoyed my cheese ploughman's for lunch, a dish I'd missed since going vegan. There are plenty of veggie/vegan options and the staff were friendly and very accommodating. Sadly they didn't have any vegan cakes as apparently they weren't selling when they did, hopefully that'll change if people go in and ask! Updated from previous review on 2020-10-02
There was a separate side of the menu for vegan and veggie options which was lovely to see. Out of season (Jan) they didn’t have much available but we both managed to have a sandwich (cheese, tomato and pickle vegan ham salad.
We loved this traditional English tea room! The staff were very aware of what vegan meant and were willing to speak to us about possible food allergies prior to ordering. We ordered several of the vegan sandwiches which were awesome and the staff was super friendly. Great prices too! Well worth the visit if you're in the area. It's fairly small with a half dozen tables inside and a couple outside so get there early. They have a sister shop called the Picnic Hut down the street a few doors which also offers vegan options.
Not only is the menu clearly labelled, the cook and staff went out of their way to check everything was suitable, double checking with me that the violife butter was in fact, vegan. It was clear they wont often cook using substitutes, but they asked for advise on b*con cooking times and colour changing or lack of) using alternative milks. Very friendly place, i felt very comfortable there. Will be back. Very small and cozy place, decor is beautiful, china tea cups everywhere, adorablely kitc! Note : They had two choices of vegan cake, one victoria sponge, and a brownie. Aug 2021 Updated from previous review on 2021-08-31

I ordered the chicken salad sandwich and my boyfriend had the bacon sandwich, both made with Quorn-style mock meats. It's easy to replicate these sandwiches at home, but we appreciated having the option while dining out. The restaurant had a tempting display of cakes, but unfortunately none were vegan - one was dairy-free but still contained eggs. They offered non-dairy milk and served good coffee, which was a plus. Overall, it was a decent choice in a town that is not very vegan-friendly.
