Tj Katsu Manners St - Wellington

I've made a number of visits here in recent months, keep coming back for one of their menu items Katsu Chicken Curry. Taste amazing always full of flavour. Service is friendly and food brought out promptly, the one I visit in Manners Street closes early so rush into Wellington to grab a quick dinner. There is a good selection for those who want to grab a bite on the run or there is plenty of seating if you want to eat in.

The staff is friendly and helpful, there are options for your own container with a 5% discount and loyalty cards to get freebies. In the evening, they may put out $6.9 boxes. Otherwise, the prices are OK, but a lot of the time the crispy things are soggy instead. Besides all that, the thing that upset me the most in terms of experience was the loud and annoying pop music that had nothing to do with the Asian/Japanese vibe and decor of the place and made me want to take my food and eat anywhere other than there

I had sushi from TJ Katsu for the first time in a while recently and was really disappointed. Their sushi used to be so much better than the other sushi chains but it seems that the quality has gone down. The rice in the sushi didn't taste particularly good, it was overall rather tasteless. It's a real shame as I used to enjoy this place.

Sushi is really good, love the vegan ones. But so disappointed with the staff. Have been in there a few times to find the staff so unhelpful I was struggling to get a whole serviette while a staff member watched, and ignored me, didn't help or assist Went in today to have a staff member at the counter watch while another staff member started to add up my order again even though I'd told her I'd paid. The staff member that I paid saw her doing this, and just ignored the situation till he had no choice but to say something, because I prompted him to Staff aren't customer focused but are good at refilling the cabinets. Vegans beware!! It's all very well (as the girl behind the counter told me that some of the deep fried stuff was vegan also), claiming you have other vegan options but it's all been fried in the same oil that the meat products have been fried in. So technically those dumpling etc..are not vegan. I know this because it was confirmed to me by 2 staff members. Why can't they use separate fryers??

We bought so much sushi thinking it was good. The quality is very poor and there is definitely too much sugar. It is a bit tasteless some of the sushi rolls. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend it, not even on discounted rates! It is a shame
