Cool atmosphere at night and chilled during the day for lunch. A tasty menu with a South American twist! A decent selection of beers and an outdoor area make Bebemos a potentially good place to start a night out or stay and enjoy the live music. I can recommend the fejoada (pork n beans) if you are hungry and want something hearty! View all feedback.
The interior has a cool vibe, featuring flamingo and pineapple decor along with lemur-themed wallpaper, giving it a serious tropical and hipster feel. The outdoor beer garden is spacious and includes a favela-style bar, boasting ten beers and ciders on tap. While they don’t offer flight samples, they do allow you to taste before purchasing. We tried the boysenberry sour and elderflower cider but unfortunately, we didn’t enjoy either. The menu offers brunch and dinner options, with the dinner menu divided into small plates, large plates, burgers, and desserts. The service was friendly, and the food arrived quite quickly. We ordered the beer-battered fries for $8.50 NZD, which came with rosemary and garlic fries with chili mayo; these were excellent—perfectly crispy and well-battered, with the chili mayo complementing them beautifully. We also had the pan-fried greens for $9.00 NZD, consisting of green beans, broccolini, and zucchini paired with crispy chickpeas and lemon. It offered a nice variety of vegetables, though they were oddly presented in long pieces, like the broccolini. It was simple but healthy. The highlight was the moqueca de peixe, priced at $38.00 NZD (enough for two). This Bahian seafood stew included prawns, fish, mussels, red peppers, tomato, coriander, coconut milk, and rice. However, we were a bit disappointed as it only contained seven mussels and a couple of prawns and pieces of fish, which felt insufficient for the price. The sauce could have used more seasoning, and the rice was bland on its own. Overall, it seems to be a popular spot for after-work drinks. I would recommend sticking to the drinks and sharing the small plates. I would rate it 3.5 stars.
Bebemos has a vibrant atmosphere at night, while the daytime offers a relaxed vibe perfect for lunch. The menu features delicious options with a South American flair. There's a nice variety of beers on offer, plus an outdoor seating area, making it an ideal spot to kick off a night out or to unwind with some live music. If you're looking for a hearty meal, I highly recommend trying the feijoada (pork and beans)!
