Description

A family-run meat shop wins praise for friendly, helpful staff, honest product and fast turnaround that keeps customers returning. Yet reviewers report serious problems: long waits, missed appointments, unexpected fees, broken promises on hang time, mispackaged or missing cuts, delayed replacements and at times confrontational management. While many applaud the product quality and hands-on service, inconsistent labeling and scheduling issues mean time-sensitive or bulk orders should proceed with caution.

TERRIBLE! I called for an appointment to have 3 beef butchered in April 2020 and they scheduled me for Nov 12, 2020. In July they called to tell me they made a mistake and scheduled me during deer season and they don 't accept beef during that time. They PROMISED to work me in around Christmas or New Year 's. I called them back the 1st week of January 2021 and they told me you are at the top of our cancellation list ....it is now late January and they have done NOTHING to help me for their mistake...and I still have 3 beef ready to butcher and have to go to the end of the waiting list somewhere else. THANKS A&K FOR MY EXTRA FEED BILL!

Great people and great product. They get it and done fast, have taken deer here for years and will as long as the doors are open. Never have had a issue. Honest good people work here.

However, that’s not what happened in our case. Though I might not have the exact dates, I believe that the beef was dropped off on February 26th, and by March 10th, we were notified that it was ready for pickup—only 12 days later. What happened to the promised 21-day hang time? When we received our boxes, we discovered that none of the packages contained the T-Bone steaks we specifically requested. It was after business hours, so my husband had to wait until the next morning to call A&K. During his conversation with the male owner, he explained our order and what we received. Shockingly, my husband was accused of lying, and the owner suggested coming to our home to check our freezer. My husband agreed, saying he was in Lubbock but welcomed the owner to visit. Later that day, my husband received a call from the owner's wife, who apologized for her husband's behavior. After reviewing our paperwork and cut sheet, she acknowledged their mistake in not including the T-Bones and promised to make it right—even suggesting they might buy store-bought T-Bones to replace our missing ones. My husband was satisfied with this resolution. However, it was two months before we finally received our replacement steaks. What pushed me to write this review is that today I opened a package labeled as Chuck Roast, only to find T-Bone steaks inside. While many would prefer the steaks over the roast, my concern is that this was not what I had planned for dinner, and it certainly wasn't what was labeled. I'm now left with a fear that future packages may also not contain what they’re supposed to. Ultimately, my husband was treated with disrespect by the owner, and we did not receive what we paid for. With what I opened today, I’m now questioning whether I actually received any of the roasts we ordered. This situation needs addressing—why can't customers simply receive what they’ve paid for, exactly as labeled? I urge caution when considering A&K Processing for your meat needs; there’s a risk you may end up missing items or dealing with mislabeled packages. The attached photos show the packages I opened today that were supposed to be two separate roasts but turned out to be four T-Bone steaks. Although the labels are stained, they remain legible.

We were informed that the beef would hang for 21 days and would be cut and packaged according to our specifications on the cut sheet. Unfortunately, that’s not what happened. Although my memory might be slightly off with the dates, we dropped off the beef on February 26th, and by March 10th, we got a call that our beef was ready for pickup. That’s only a 12-day hanging time—what happened to the promised 21 days? Upon receiving our boxes of meat and beginning to fill the freezer, we discovered that not a single package of T-Bones, which we specifically requested, was included. We picked up the meat after business hours, so we had to wait until the next morning to contact A&K. My husband made the call and spoke with the male owner, explaining our order and what we actually received. Shockingly, my husband was accused of lying, and the owner suggested coming to our house to inspect our freezer, insisting that there was no way they had made an error. After some back and forth, my husband indicated he was out running errands in Lubbock but was open to their visit. Later that day, around 5:30 PM, my husband received a call from the owner's wife. She apologized for her husband's behavior and admitted they made a mistake by not providing our T-Bones. She assured him they would rectify the situation, even suggesting they might buy store-bought T-Bones to replace what we didn’t receive. While we appreciated the commitment to make it right, it took two months before we finally received our replacement steaks. My frustration was reignited when I opened a package today labeled as Chuck Roast (for dinner plans) and found it contained two T-Bone steaks instead. While many people might prefer T-Bones over Chuck Roast, the issue is that I wasn’t planning on T-Bones for my family’s meal, and they weren't what was labeled on the package. Now, I’m left worried that the other packages I open in the future will not contain what they’re labeled as. Ultimately, my husband was disrespected by the owner, and we didn’t receive what we paid for. Now that I've discovered packages that were labeled as one thing and turned out to be something else, I'm concerned that I may not have received any of the roasts at all. This isn’t a high expectation—people should receive exactly what they paid for, as clearly marked! I advise caution if you consider using this business for your processing needs. You may end up with missing meat and mislabeled packages. The picture below shows the packages I opened today that were supposed to be two separate roasts but instead ended up being four T-Bone steaks. The label is damaged from the blood of the meat but is still readable.
