I had a really good stay here. I found the owner to be lovely and understanding. Breakfast wasn’t amazing but did the job. Beds were comfy and room was clean! There is air con but Sri Lanka was suffering power cuts very regularly when I visited so half the time it was hot, not the hostels fault. Great location too! Very close to the beach View all feedback.
What Sylvia doesn't like about Space Garden Hostel Mirissa:
Not really great experience. Staff was very very slow and it took them forever to even notice that we’re sitting there and want to order. I have to say that food was delicious (even though other tables were complaining). But the overall experience was View all feedback.
Big portions, tasty local food. From 12 to 14p.m. all you can eat rice and curry us available. Recommended!
It's located from the way from Mirissa Station to beach. The owners were very friendly. Good service. Only 2 or 3 staffs were there. Food was really good. We had a chicken fried rice and chocolate milkshake. Prices were really fair and good portions of food. Recommended.
Food is very salty and oily. We got 1 curry rice, and 1 wrap with tomatoes and cheese. Wrap tasted like meat, maybe they use the same oil to fry meat and eggs… we left quite disappointed

We walked past on our first day in Mirissa and we were peering in. The lovely guys invited us to have look. We explained we had already eaten lunch but decided to have a look, they also gave us their menu to look at. I commented how good the prices were, their smiles beamed and they chimmed that prices are reasonable and food is good. So first thing this morning we headed straight to this friendly place. We sat by the water edge, watching the monitor lizards swimming and birds buzzing past. We ordered avo and eggs on toast and oh my when it arrived we were bowled over! Superb presentation: two slices of thick cut crispy white bread, smashed avo (mix of avo, tomatoes and onions), two perfectly done fried eggs, roast tomato and some cabbage as garnish (but sufficient to say almost a salad). It also came with choice of coffee or tea. We had coffee and asked for coconut milk, which they gladly provided. The service was excellent! All of this for Rs480 I have no doubt prices will go up slightly and it'll still be totally worth it!! We will certainly be going back to try other things!! When I chatted to the owner, he told me that he had renovated the place but then the kitchen couldn't keep up with the demand, he has now renovated the kitchen and feels confident they can now offer a brilliant service. One recommendation I have is, the cushion covers are of a fleece material not great for this hot hot weather and I also find fleece gives a dirty look (even if clean). Perhaps swapping it out for a cool cotton fabric would not only look better but feel better to sit on.
