What Pia Hoffmann doesn't like about Cafe Ben Zi Bena:
to our question whether we are allowed to sit on a table, the waiter was somewhat incomprehensible and continued. after that, the guests were informed that the food is out. it was seven minutes after a clock! that is not a hospitable! View all feedback.
It's okay. they have a moderate selection of cakes that tasted well. but the atmosphere was not so beautiful. we didn't try to eat anything else so that we can't say anything about it.
Service NO SERVICE, at all. Food could not order anything. Beverages could not order anything. Ambience bistro atmosphere, nice terrace view. Beautifully situated right across the cathedral with a nice view on the nearby palace garden, Ben zi bena could be the gastronomic showpiece at the historic center of Merseburg. Unfortunately, they do not meet any standards of service. Visiting Merseburg in July 2015 with a group of music lovers for MDR Musiksommer, we were looking for a little something to eat before attending the concert. No fancy expectations, just coffee and cake, salad or appetizers. The restaurant looked like a bistro, densely packed with tables and equally crowded. So we waited patiently to be seated, but after several waiters passed us without taking any note, we decided to occupy the next free table. There we sat unnoticed by the employees for another 10-15 minutes. We started to joke about it, blaiming our glad rags, but other customers also looked obviously frustrated. We borrowed the menu from another table and made our choices. Meanwhile, the table was cleared but not cleaned by a waiter who harshly denied our order, claiming that other tables had to be served first and we should wait for our turn. The restaurant was well frequented, so we bit the bullet and overlooked the impropriate tone. After another 15 minutes observing personnel chatting in the back and serving with lackadaisical attitude, we got increasingly impatient. Upon my request to order, a waiter said: You can see by yourself that we are booked out. Wait until I come for you In response, I pointed out that we were already waiting for 30 minutes, having nothing to drink and that we were hungry. He snottily replied: This is not my problem After this final affront, we left the restaurant.

Despite the small misfortune of mine, the personal was deserved and reputable. we are looking for this locally.
