However, this was made impossible by the discriminatory house rules, which were not publicly accessible and were not written down anywhere! Women wearing burkinis are not welcome, but they only find out about this on site. The compensation was the private SPA area, which was definitely not what we wanted. A place that is absolutely NOT inclusive and that we will definitely not visit again.

Family run hotel but owners made me feel like I was an inconvenience ri... read more AVOID THIS PLACE lots of other choices. Lucerne is such a nice place I would stay there. Family run hotel but owners made me feel like I was an inconvenience right from when I first walked in the door. $650 for 2 nights turned into $900 when they messed up during check in and decided to charge $250 on check out. Room was spacious but dated and furniture frayed. Bathroom was updated. Ceiling in room was covered with splattered bug guts. I counted at least 20. No temperature control in room. Spa was ok but was told that in order to save money only 2 of 5 sauna/steams were turned on. For the money they charge they should be ashamed they need to make available all services they advertise. Don’t be fooled by the pictures the views are ok but they need to cut down 2 trees that block view from in the outdoor pool. Breakfast was continental with cold eggs and odd tasting bacon. Decent selection but still a glorified continental breakfast. Owner doesn’t tell you you need a reservation for breakfast but staff clearly annoyed when you show up without one. Odd. Bottom Line: I would avoid this hotel. It’s certainly not a 4 star experience. This is a 3 star hotel because of its spa but I give it a 2 star due to the level of service received. There are plenty of other hotels to stay at and I would strongly encourage you to explore other options. Rooms: Bugs splattered all over ceiling. Spacious but dated and furniture frayed. Bathroom updated. Nearby activities: There aren’t any take my advice stay in Lucerne! Walkability: There isn’t much around except a limited selection of overpriced restaurants. Food drinks: Breakfast was a glorified continental breakfast with cold eggs and oddly tasting bacon. A BLT and fries will set you back $25 swiss francs! Noteworthy details: Spa ok but owners are cheap and don’t turn on all spa/sauna rooms 2/5 on and working during visit. Owners need to move on guests seem to be an inconvenience and details overlooked.
