Food was excellent and a really good choice. I will comment that they have a vegan menu but we only realised this afterwards. Other than that, food, service was excellent View all feedback.
What Kath Matthews doesn't like about The Crow & Gate:
Well renovated pub with lovely atmosphere. Main course sea bass and roast) delicious, sadly starters prawn cocktail and falafel) not good... good prices though. And well situated for walks in Ashdown Forest. Very friendly staff and new owner! View all feedback.

We went to the restaurant for lunch to commemorate the anniversary of my father-in-law's passing two years ago. The restaurant was very busy, which is always a good sign, so we were happy that we had made a reservation in advance, especially during half term. However, the noise level was a bit high, making it difficult to hear our own conversation at times. We were seated at a nice table by the fire, which made the atmosphere cozy as we waited for our food. The menu was extensive and diverse, just like our previous visit for my mother-in-law's birthday. She ordered the seabass again and was not disappointed. Despite the generous portion size, she opted for a smaller dessert and complimentary hot drink, which added the perfect finishing touch to a memorable dining experience for her.
Outstanding in every aspect. Although I encountered a small issue with one of the desserts, the exceptional staff quickly resolved it.
This restaurant is an excellent choice for delicious food at affordable prices.
Very friendly and courteous staff, made to feel very welcome, good food at realistic prices.
