Located near Ashdown Forest, the setting of AA Milne's Winnie the Pooh books, The Crow and Gate is a perfect spot for visitors to enjoy some refreshments. Good food and good decor and garden. Feel extremely comfortable in this pub. Its one always use in summer and winter too for their log fires!!
We went to the restaurant for lunch to commemorate the anniversary of my father-in-law's passing two years ago. The restaurant was very busy, which is always a good sign, so we were happy that we had made a reservation in advance, especially during half term. However, the noise level was a bit high, making it difficult to hear our own conversation at times. We were seated at a nice table by the fire, which made the atmosphere cozy as we waited for our food. The menu was extensive and diverse, just like our previous visit for my mother-in-law's birthday. She ordered the seabass again and was not disappointed. Despite the generous portion size, she opted for a smaller dessert and complimentary hot drink, which added the perfect finishing touch to a memorable dining experience for her.
Outstanding in every aspect. Although I encountered a small issue with one of the desserts, the exceptional staff quickly resolved it.
We were definitely late and we were pleasantly surprised that we could get lunch. I had a very good fish and chips. No complaints. My wife had linguini and a glass of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Both were nice, but it was a pity that...
