This is a very old pub with masses of wood panelling and low ceilings. There is also a good selection of beers on tap. We visited for lunch and sat in the garden which is pleasant, protected and has an old English feel. The seats... View all feedback.
What Dave doesn't like about Star Inn:
The setting is spectacular and the views picturesque. That was as good as it got. The food was overpriced, and the service was lacking in any charm, and left us with the feeling it was just to much effort . This together with the garden cabaret of at least one rat running around was off putting. Unlikely to return. View all feedback.
A lovely evening spent here . Great ambiance, lovely food and impressive young staff . We took our Dutch friends and had a wonderful time!

We came for Sunday lunch which never disappoints! We visit the Star quite regularly and I have no idea about some of the reviews about rude staff every time we go in the staff are extremely friendly, courteous and helpful, service and great and the atmosphere both inside and out in the beautiful garden is just as a country pub should be. It definitely has its quirks but it is a great pub.
Horrible rude staff and an atmosphere of contempt. What a pity, cause the pub could have been lovely. It was like the scene in American Warewoolf in London, where nobody is welcome except the few old coggers who prop up the bar
I am not surprised this place appears to have two separate listings on this site, they are obviously trying to distance themselves from the consistently poor reviews on this listing. If only we had read these before booking, we would have thought twice before going, and we did indeed experience exactly the same rude and unprofessional service that so many others have mentioned. From being snapped at while patiently waiting to order, to being made to feel extremely uncomfortable for being just 2 people less than we booked for, the rudeness was continuous. Despite claims of being busy there were 4 visible staff and it absolutely was not especially busy. The negative attitude was incredible, and astonishingly culminated in one of our group overhearing the landlady(? encouraging the staff to deliberately make our table feel uncomfortable so we would leave quickly and the table could be reassigned to some regulars, who would appear to be the only people welcome in this pub. Do not be fooled by the pretty pub, and the nice looking menu, this does not extend to the service, which is the worst that I have experienced after many years as both a manager and a customer in the hospitality industry.
