Came in with a few friends at the start of December , lovely food (spare ribs with peppercorn sauce was to die for) and a good atmosphere. Staff seem to be very kind and helpful and the bar has a very good selection and not too pricey too!! Would highly recommend , best Chinese in Heathfield. View all feedback.
What SueAW53 doesn't like about New Evergreen Chinese:
Food very slow to arrive, not hot, restaurant freezing, another table of diners arrived, ladies removed their coats but shortly put them back on again as do cold in there and waiter took my cutlery when he cleared the starters, apologised and bought the dirty cutlery back for me to continue to use! Do not blame the waiter, clearly just started and had received no training, very nervous. Will never dine there again. A... View all feedback.
Had a takeaway from here with my friends and we all said it was amazing!! Probably the best Chinese we've all had! Will definitely be having another soon!
I went on a Friday evening. The Indian next door was packed but they were completely empty which is always concerning. I used to be a regular but hadn’t been for a while. The place was as pleasant as ever, with nicely sized tables and good quality table ware. The young lady who was serving was pleasant and took my order well enough. An older lady came and checked everything was ok and then disappeared for the evening. The Grilled Dumplings arrived. They were obviously not made on the premises and were pretty tasteless. A young man then arrived rather noisily, and from having to overhear his conversation with the waitress, I would guess they were the son daughter of the owners. An elderly Chinese man then arrived, I guess a friend of the family, and then proceeded to have a very loud conversation with the young lady about his travelling plans. The young man, after describing the evening he had planned ahead, which involved quite a bit of cursing, then phoned his ‘bosses’ to see how early he could leave. He then noisily cashed up and left, as did the other guest. Another young man then arrived and noisy discussions then followed. They had managed to fit in serving me my main course which was adequate. But my amusement slowly disappeared as I felt I was sitting in someone’s house and was in the way. I don’t really blame the spoilt youngsters because I don’t think they had a clue what they were doing was wrong. Work was just getting in their way. They certainly didn’t seem to care that the restaurant was horribly quiet while the village was heaving due to it being the day most people finished their A level exams. It’s a shame because this was quite a good Chinese restaurant not so long ago. But I won’t be returning.
My friend booked our table in New Evergreen for us to have a supper together before going to ‘70s ‘80s Disco. We ordered our foods and it came just at the right time. They have chopsticks and spoons but I didn’t see any fork at all on the table. We ate together and we enjoyed the foods, they were delicious and well presented. Staff were friendly and very helpful.

I have eaten at New Evergreen many times over the years I’ve lived in Heathfield, and it has never failed to please me. I often eat here with either friends or family and I would reccomend it to anyone looking to sample some Chinese cuisine, for the extensive and affordable menu, quick and friendly service, and authentic atmosphere inside.
