Some patrons were disappointed with slow service and overcooked meals while others praised the fantastic dishes and friendly staff. The menu is considered extensive but potentially overspread. Despite inconsistencies, many reviewers express a desire to return due to the warm and inviting atmosphere, especially noting the attentive service from staff. Overall, The Village Inn receives praise for creating a comfortable dining experience and delicious food, with a few minor areas for improvement.
I can't believe I didn't find this restaurant when I moved to Wayne three years ago. It would have saved me from having many terrible dinners in some of the terrible restaurants in the area. I think many people pass this little red and golden shield every day on Valley Road, which shows Runnymede Drive. Well, this last Saturday night my wife and I didn't pass it. We drove the Runnymede drive and found The Village Inn and what a find it was. We had one of the best dinners we had in a very long time. From the time we went to the time we went, we felt like at home with a family dinner without doing all the work. My wife had the grilled shrimp and risotto cake and I had the dim sum steamed dumplings both were incredible. For dinner, my wife had the Chilean Sea Bass and I had the Filet Mignon. Both dinners were perfect, we couldn't ask for a better meal and service. The food came out quickly and the dinning room was pleasantly quiet. Oh, how can I forget you have to try the Lava Cake, it was also perfect.
Very happy we found this place. Food was fantastic and the staff was very attentive. Great out of the way place
We went out with other couples for dinner before heading to an event. The restaurant was not crowded at all. It took more than half hour for our salads to come. We mentioned that we were in a bit of a rush, so could they please try to bring the main course quickly. We waited another half hour for our main course. When it came, only entrees arrived. It took another minutes for the entree to arrive. The food was good, but we had to eat so quickly that the taste became irrelevant. They did comp the entree, which was appropriate under the circumstances. We were disappointed because while we had never eaten here before, we live close by and we had hoped to have another place to go. Unfortunately, we will likely not return after this experience
Visit spring My first visit here was great. The waitress was very attentive and the food was great. No complaints.Visit Fall My girlfriend and I decided to come again. We had a horrific experience. We were stuck with one of the worst waitresses I have ever met. Her name is Michelle. She rarely checked in on our table despite being only one of people in the dining area. She spent most of her night working the room as she described it. This was basically her attempt to flirt with a table of something men. She reeked of alcohol and slurred her words at times. There were a few crumbs on our table that we barely noticed. But Michelle did apparently. So she proceeded to blame the mistake on a young lady who was bussing tables. She called her an idiot in front of my girlfriend and I then scolded the young lady in front of the entire dining room. At the end of the meal we asked for a check and presented a gift certificate. Michelle took this as an opportunity to remind us, to our faces, that we are required to tip on the full amount. Visit Jan We decided to give the place one more try, praying that Michelle would not be working. Sadly she was, but we decided to give it a try anyway. Instead of a greeting, Michelle ran up to our table and told us that she would barely be able to wait on us because she had too many tables. Here we go again I thought! We rushed through the menu and gave her our orders hoping that we would see it come out in a timely manner. The food came out late about mins later for a pasta and meat dish. Michelle missed our salads. No big deal. But instead of admitting it up front, Michelle stated times that she brought them. Eventually she relented and admitted the mistake. Much like our last visit, Michelle quickly blam
Place was closed ... drove there to find out a sign stating they are closed. Huge disappointment
