What User doesn't like about High Societea Tea Room:
I have a dairy allergy. When I called to make reservations, I asked if they could accommodate this. I was told yes they could. When we were seated and were ready to order, I asked the server which of the items were dairy free. All that was available was a vegan soup and a salad. I didn 't come to a cafe for lunch I came for the tea experience. They could not offer me any finger sandwiches or pastries, just soup and s... View all feedback.
At 5:04 PM, we were finally given some finger food consisting of quartered sandwiches that were cut in half. I had been assured when making the reservation that we would have adult-sized portions the entire time, but instead, we received these less-than-satisfying servings, all with stale bread. Again, there were only two plates on a three-tiered stand. At 5:14 PM, they brought out two dishes containing tiny brownie bites, small cookies with bacon, and round cookies decorated with pumpkins—none of which were fresh. While we were enduring this, at 5:23 PM, my sister-in-law stood up, and the chair broke, causing her to slide onto the floor and into me. I quickly notified the waitress, handing her the broken chair, which should never have been at our table in the first place. At 5:27 PM, we were served a cobbler that was raw. By 5:31 PM, Laura, whom I believe is the receptionist, informed us that they were getting ready to close. When I made the reservation, I specified that it was a small baby shower for my daughter. Instead of enjoying the moment, we were rushed to open presents as they began cleaning tables around us with disinfectant. The service was dreadful—after waiting over an hour and a half for water, the waitress finally brought a pitcher with just two glasses despite having 11 people at the table who all wanted water. We also requested refills for two pots of tea but never received them. I left feeling disappointed after spending nearly $500, and everyone felt let down by both the service and the meager snacks provided. I would never recommend this place and have no intention of returning. I believe management should refund my money due to the terrible experience. We all left hungry and frustrated. I have taken pictures to document everything I've mentioned; photos don’t lie, and I have proof. **Service:** Dine-in **Meal Type:** Dinner **Price per Person:** $30–50 **Food:** 1 **Service:** 1 **Atmosphere:** 1
My family has been visiting this restaurant for many years, and it always meets our expectations. The owner, Mike, and the entire staff do an excellent job. Food: 5, Service: 5, Atmosphere: 5.
We hosted my daughter's bridal shower here today, and Michael and his team did an outstanding job accommodating our party of 34. Thank you for helping to make my daughter's special day truly unforgettable. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
As for vegetarian options, I could be mistaken, but I believe their plates are preselected. However, I’m sure you can communicate your preferences to the staff; they are very accommodating and friendly. Kid-friendliness: I noticed some children there, and they seemed to be welcomed. Parking: We were able to find a spot right in front of the restaurant. Wheelchair accessibility: I noticed a ramp, making it accessible for those who need it.
What an experience! It feels like you're stepping into a British period drama. The server was exceptionally friendly, and the variety of teas available is simply amazing! I would recommend this place for a leisurely visit to chat and enjoy tea—it’s more suited for light meals or snacks rather than a full dinner. The scones, paired with lemon and cream, were delightful. We also enjoyed the savory bites, although they were quite small! The atmosphere was a bit warm inside, especially on a cool spring day. It was delightful to see people wearing all sorts of dresses that matched the charming teatime setting. I would love to bring my mother and grandmother back here for a little occasion and dress up a bit!
