Lovely clean, well decorated restaurant. Service was great. Really friendly. The thali is definitely the best way to try several curries. But for me the mushroom paneer and the nan bread was the best. Yummy. If we lived closer we would return. View all feedback.
What Fire190 doesn't like about Shahanaz:
I used to get takeaway from this restaurant regularly and it was great but the quality has gone downhill. The chicken has a watery processed texture to it and the last time I ordered here it wasn’t great, the meat was horrible, I didn’t even finish it and I normally never leave a morsel on my plate. I was ill afterwards too. View all feedback.
The whole experience was grim right from start to finish. The first course was the smallest portion I think I've ever seen, and the main course was just sickly and sweet and was actually unpleasant. When I brought this to their attention, they were dismissive and disinterested. All they seemed to care about was the bill being paid in full. When I raised my concerns and said how unhappy I was, and asked for a tiny bit off the bill to reflect these, it just fell on deaf ears. So much for customer satisfaction and listening to and acting upon their concerns. All-in-all, never to be repeated and a place to avoid like the plague.
The biggest disappointment you could have in an Indian restaurant. Disgusting amounts of sugar added to sauces it would put the unhealthiest cake to shame... All we could taste was overwhelming, plain, sticky sweet they kept insisting it's how it should all be, I should have ordered something else and so on. Tikka Masala was marked medium on the menu, but no spiciness came through the sugar at all. The Butter Chicken, a mild dish was also basically just sugar for my friend, and he normally has a real sweet tooth. The garlic nan didn't have much garlic on, even tough I asked for extra garlic specifically; can't say the dough was nice, either. The onion bhaji starter was tiny, 3 small, flat pieces. The only edible part was the egg rice. As they knew about our complaints all along, we asked for a little off the bill at the end, but they flatly refused, mumbling something like we should have asked sooner. About £50 wasted! We usually have lovely AND nutritious meals out for between £30 40.
Great food really well made with much attention to detail and a lovely restaurant with beautiful seating arrangement.
Found this place by chance as we were staying in Haslemere. Although we arrived as they were wanting to close up we had a lovely meal with great service. Staff were brilliant and couldn’t do enough for us. Highly recommended.
Bit of luck finding this restaurant. Was not our first choice due to the bank holiday closures. Food was some of the best Indian cuisine I have had, and reasonably priced. The staff were great, and Kingfisher was on draught. I would highly recommend, and next time i am in this part of the country, I will definitely come here again.
