Ordered my groceries online for pick-up and there was a little mess up when I got home. Lindsey was QUICK to offer to deliver the correct item to my house. I thought that was amazing!! We love Hy-Vee always, but this seemed above and beyond since I’m not just right in town! Thank you!! View all feedback.
What Admir B doesn't like about Hy-vee Market Grille Express:
5 stars for all of the fantastic individual workers, -4 stars for the corporation and the future armed guards to protect against someone stealing a frozen pizza. Go to Aldi right across the street, it's more affordable and has better quality in just about every aspect. View all feedback.
The flowers delivered to my mother 's grave were very lovely. (Pro-tip: I 'd given 5 stars if the prom hadn 't been mentioned. Delivery in afternoon was all that needed to be said. I will be ordering next year.
I never thought I would say that I enjoyed dining in a grocery store restaurant, but Hy-Vee Grill has made me a believer. On evenings when we are just too tired to cook, it is a quick jaunt to grab some fresh sushi, a delicious burger, or even breakfast. I have attempted to visit on Sunday mornings, but always find the wait too long but during week day evenings there is a little or no wait typically. Service is always friendly and prompt and the prices are very reasonable.
We went for lunch a couple days before Christmas. my mom, my great aunt and myself. it was an all day happy hour day. half price apps. my mom and I ordered 3 apps. auntie had a special order burger. food and service was top notch, plus you can pick up your last minute holiday groceries on your way out.
This review is long overdue but well deserved. A few things to note: I've visited Des Moines twice since this review and during those two visits I've visited this Hyvee Market Grille three times. Thats how much I enjoy dining here! I think grocery store restaurants are the best because their ingredients are fresh. They are not like restaurants where they only have limited ingredients on hand. Breakfast: Their full breakfast menu is available until 11am but their limited breakfast menu is available all day! My boyfriend wanted to order a skillet dish and asked if the breakfast potatoes could be substituted with hash browns and they were able to accommodate this request! I tried their chicken fried chicken and the chicken meat was so moist. I am not a fan of white meat chicken because it is usually dry but this Hyvee Market Grille knows how to do chicken right! Lunch: On New Years day they were offering a buffet for $17.99/person. I'm not sure if they have this available everyday or just on new years but there were many options. I would have tried it if I was more hungry. Instead I got the lunch portion of the blackened shrimp tacos. They came with chips and salsa and everything was delicious. The lunch portion (2 tacos instead of 3 tacos) definitely filled me up so I'm glad they offered this portion size. We also ordered a side of tater tots off their Wahlburgers menu. I love Wahlburgers and so happy they offer that food here too! The servers here are all wonderful, from the host, to the waiter, to the manager to the people delivering the food, refilling our drinks, and clearing our table. A special shout out to Michael, Zoey and the manager John. There was also an older lady that waited on us during our very first visit. I don't remember her name but she was one of the reasons for our subsequent returns. Her service and everyone else's service is top notch. We don't even live anywhere close to this Hyvee but we keep returning to it because of the staff, great tasting food, cleanliness and overall ambiance.
Few things I love about this place: 1. Service The service here has always been excellent! Very friendly and courteous servers, the managers on duty are always super nice and even days they are short staffed they do not show the frustration or act short/rude with customers. I really really appreciate that. 2. Kids night we sort of accidentally discovered this. After grocery shopping one Tuesday night we decide to eat here for dinner. It was a cold winter evening. I was prepared to whip out the phone and let my kid watch videos when I saw a table and the manager making slime with kids. This is a brilliant idea! Wholesome activities no electronic devices needed to entertain the kids. We have made slime, found different art/craft projects, books and puzzles and recently decorated a pumpkin here. Oh and kids eat free with an adult entree purchase. 3. Drink specials they usually have some pretty awesome drink special. Like $3 rum punch or $4 Long Island iced teas. It changes every week I think or month. Super reasonable and tastes delicious. 4. Veggie burgers as a vegetarian the Impossible burger has taken over the plant based burger market. It's like everywhere I don't particularly like it. I tolerate it. I love the fact that Market grill has a black bean burger patty in addition to the impossible burger option. Added bonus: it tastes good. I can see the black beans and corn when I bite into it!
