We booked the cocktail making master class 2 months in advance of our visit for 17 people for my best friends hen do, we booked for 6 pm. On arrival, the lady behind the bar had no idea we were booked and had to phone her colleague. 15 minutes later she said ok, I explained that there were now only 11 of us and when I booked and paid a £40 deposit inwas told that it didn't matter if numbers dropped as it was pay on the day. The lady still tried to charge us for 17 people. After another phone call to her colleague she then tried to charge me for all 11 when I booked I was told that the deposit would pay for 2 places. After yet another phone call at 6.45 we sat down. We were then told that out of all the cocktails on the list we could only make 3 of them as they didn't have enough ingredients. We were now a bit fed up but decided to get on with it. The lady then disappeared for another 15 minutes getting ice and setting up. When we booked it said a glass of prosecco on arrival. I had to request this and show her the web page to prove it. It then took another 15 minutes for this, as she was also serving other customers When we finally got going it was good fun, but at 8.15 we were told we had to hurry up as there was another party booked. After an hour and 15 minute delay that was no fault of our own being told to hurry up was the icing on the cake. All in all the cocktail making was fun, and good value as we did eventually get 3 cocktails and a glass of prosecco, but the disorganisation and waiting and messing around did put a dampener on it.
I went to twisted monkey for the first time in April 2017. I work for a local community radio station and wanted to try the place out to give my listeners a true review ! I went with 3 friends and we arrived at 10pm. The place was quite empty but this was not an issue as this gave us a chance to check out the venue, the decor Is quirky and catchy, every wall has a graffiti art or framed picture collection to look at, even the mirrors are amazing (windows The club offers VIP packages which start from £50 and includes up to 10 people, bottle of vodka bubbly and mixers. This is a lot cheaper than most clubs in Watford and the vodka is actually Smirnoff!! We took advantage of this and had the choice of where we wanted to sit. Don't expect luxury , just expect a good deal. The music is great , a lot of the music is current and mixed well. Tho one thing we noticed was the DJ kept walking off. The main attraction to twisted monkey is the Ping Pong. We had soooo much fun, we played for almost 2 hours. We didn't try the cocktails or food (pesto pizza sounds delicious but we had shots and they were not tiny !! Overall we liked Twisted Monkey.. I would definitely go again.. we were the last to leave at 1am !! I've read all the other reviews and can't agree that 1 star is a fair review, it shouldn't matter how many people are in a club to rate it, we had an amazing time and after speaking to people at the bar the week before we went was a lot busier. Would highly recommend venue for work nights out birthdays something different . The only reason we didn't give 5 stars was because the bar staff did seem to ignore us sometimes at the bar, it wasn't busy and at one point I was looked at the the lady carried on cleaning. But this didn't ruin our night.
