Vimy's Lounge & Grill - Waterton

We were the only three people in the restaurant and it took three trys to get one of the meals correct. The orange juice ordered came when the meal was basically done. Definitely go to Zum's or Traders on the main street as we have been there before and it was very good. Even with the 10% discount coupon from staying in the cabins didn't make up for the service.

This was a disappointment all around. We went for dinner. Website advises to get a reservation, which we called in for and were then told that it was not too busy. So arrived and went in for dinner. There were two other tables of customers there, so not busy at all. Greeted and served by a very nice server, but the kitchen let us down big time. Ordered two fish n chips dinners, and waited. And waited, and waited. For 35 minutes until the server explained that the cook determined that the fish could not be served. It was bad. Hmm.... Thirty five minutes to figure out that the fish is (a) gone or (b) bad or (c) whatever?? So, okay replacement dishes were ordered and the server promised that the kitchen would expedite our orders. Why they needed to be expedited, who knows as there were still only a handful of customers in the place. The expedited orders took another 35 minutes or more, which was just unacceptable. And the beef was underdone, not to order. They discounted our meal a bit to help make up for it, but for the remainder of our stay in Waterton, we did not bother with the Vimy Lounge. Try the Lakeside or some other place.

We stopped by for a weeknight dinner: it was close by and we had a 10% off coupon to try. Although they recommend reservations, the restaurant was quite empty. There was a good selection on the menu. The food took time to arrive and when it did, my burger was over cooked and seemed to contain one single sliced mushroom even though it was billed as a “signature” mushroom Swiss burger. We were almost finished our meal before our server checked on us. When it came time to pay, (no inquiry about dessert , the hostess(? was called away by the other staff members apparently looking at photos. While I have no problem with staff taking advantage of a quiet night, I still expect reasonable, attentive service, especially for a $20+ burger. No reason to return.

Nice spot for a good dinner and if your looking to have a few and watch the game the bar is perfect . Good variety on the menu. Had the burger and it was really really good a homemade patty for sure and good bun. Wife had the chicken burger which was real chicken breast grilled with a great sauce. The side ceasar was a on spot real bacon and the right amount of dressing was not drowning. The beer choices are a bit limited.

We 've eaten here before as it 's one of only two places open in the off season. But this time, the first thing the server did was run off a list of the food items they were out of. On a Monday. Then when our food did come, it was not as stated in the menu there were things missing and substitutions that we had not been told about. And a very long wait for our food. They did comp us our beverages, which was the very minimum they could have done. But substituting items without asking if it was okay can actually be a health hazard if there are allergies or intolerances a big no no in the food service industry.
