Our waitress was amazing. We had a group of 13 giving orders and she never used a peice of paper. All in her head and no mistakes. Food was good and hearty with lots of it. One an tell this a favoued truck stop cause...you gotto be good to keep them coming back. Only negative is the gravel parking lot with lots of dust in the air. View all feedback.
What Miguel Vila doesn't like about T&T Iron Horse Cafe:
What a disappointment! Used to have better than average roadside stop food. Now it's reduced to a frozen hamburger thrown on a grill and it comes out that charbroiled fat taste. Fries are the least expensive that a bulk supplier provides. The people at the...next table complained their cutlets were half raw where they hadn't thawed. This place has the chance to be a popular stop but not under current food management.... View all feedback.

I stopped there on my way to Spedden. It is a nice cafe or lets say standard good highway diner. I had a Iron Horse Cheesburger with french fries and gravy which was really fresh and good. The stuff was realy friendly and I didn't have to wait to long to get my meals. For sure it isn't a 5 Star hotel but a good place to stop and have supper.
Good food (rye toast was so good), good coffee (and plentiful) & quick service (seated quickly and food came out fast)! We will definitely come again!
One stop one can take as thy travel to the northeastern part of Alberta is the Iron Horse Cafe, located right by the major Petro Canada gas station. The decor is plain as it gets, complete with local artists' painting for sale on the walls. The classic desert glass case is right out front complete with delicious looking pumpkin pie. The look is deceiving -- the service is excellent, with Sylvia, one of the main servers at the Iron Horse. She is polite, efficient and courteous. My wife ordered the 10 perogy plate special while I ordered the open Denver. The perogys were a good purchases, complete with onions, bacon bits and sour cream. The open Denver - well not only was the open Denver on brown bread ready and nicely prepared, but a healthy order of vegetables (el dante), cold slaw and the best home cut fries in the region, filled the plate. If these meals are not to you liking, the Iron Horse Cafe has an extensive menu with something for everyone. Pricing is some of the best you will find and servings are very generous. All in all, we'd recommend a stretch and a meal at the Iron Horse Cafe.
If you're on the road, Highway 28, and you need to stop for the "tried and true" burger or the pasta special, Salisbury steak special with mashed and gravy, or a generous clubhouse this is for you. One interesting menu section are the all day Senior's "smaller portions" specials. Good selection from Fish and Chips, Liver and Onions, Burgers etc.If you only want to gas-up at the Petro-Can, go inside for very tasty made "just-in-time" cinnamon buns, cheese rolls, and other pastries.
