The food was delicious and the environment was fantastic! We came for lunch and enjoyed every bit, and even bought some extra beef patties to take home. We?re not local to DC, but we?ll be sure to visit every time we?re in the area. View all feedback.

If you want good food, with subpar servings, then this is the place for you. My wife and I ordered the MEDIUM oxtail dinner $16.60 per person, with two medium plantains, and four cola champaigns on Postmates, and got what looked like a small. To say the least, we felt highly disrespected, and ripped off. We definitely did not get our money's worth. We were served more peas and rice, and plenty cabbage, with only four... View all feedback.
5 food never opens on time but when open authentic jamaican-style cuisine that will transform your taste buds as if you were oversee you. I would definitely recommend it for catering and family dinners. No dine in service, and the plantains are cooked just right ?. I have been back several times and will continue to go. Enjoy! ?Vegetarian options: Rice and peas, cabbage, greens etc.Kid-friendliness: Rice pea, chicken, Mac n Cheese. Greens.Wheelchair accessibility: Same floor entrance. One level.
Very little beef in the patty. I placed my order on the kiosk, was charged a processing fee gratuity!! Why is gratuity automatically included after placing the order myself?
I been eating here for years. I make a 30 minute plus commute for them . Food always taste the same, flavorful, tender and not dry. This the only carribean spot I will eat at I don’t care what other people recommend. People complaining about the food being more rice but other cultures do the same thing LOL. I’m being loyal to jam doung.
This was a large order of oxtails . I wanted to split it between todays dinner and tomorrows dinner. Until, I learned that the order consisted of 6 oxtails and as you can see an abundance of rice. The flavor was awful . I’m not sure how to pinpoint-perhaps lack of freshness , missing key ingredients . I won’t order that dish again . I usually order the j wings and they do ok there for the most part .
The food was fresh. We got a:•Small oxtail plate w/rice peas/Mac/cabbage: Decent serving size for the price. The meat was slightly sweet, the oxtail gravy was a perfect match for the perfectly cooked rice and peas. The make is kind of a mash up between Caribbean mac pie and American baked Mac. The flavor was ok for me, nothing to write home about. The cabbage had a nice texture. Again the flavor was good but not spectacular.•6 pc j wings (party wings) w extra gravy:I personally prefer whole wings for j The meat to spice ratio is off w the small wings. Not sure if theu were actually smoked. Never the less, they were a good add on to the meal. The gravy is more like pan drippings and can be poured over any of your meal. It was very flavorful and not too spicy.•Chicken patty:The reason we even ventured out was to find a beef patty and cocoa bread. They had neither. So we tried the chicken. The crust was great. The filling was a little on the curry side and had a nice kick to it. They were definitely fresh and I appreciated that.•Sweet potato cake: Moist and delicious. It was giving carrot cake minus the accoutrements or. Very dense and moist spice cake. The cream cheese icing stole the show. I'd come back just for this cake.Over all it was a great experience, the place was clean and we were greeted enthusiastically as soon as we entered. There was a short wait despite it being nearly empty, nothing unreasonable though. I will say, there did seem to be a lot of online/Uber orders to fill. So that may explain the wait.On a scale of 1-10 this place gets a solid 8.5. I'll be back to try more dishes. Especially the desserts and drinks.
