Cucina Al Volo - Washington DC

This is definitely one of my favorite hole-in-the-wall restaurants and I usually come here on my keto cheat day... or should I say I cheat on keto just so I can eat here ; They have a great selection of Italian foods that you can mix and match into an inexpensive combo meal. For me, I really enjoy the pasta+pizza combo. Their pizzas are made with a ciabatta crust so it's very crispy and has great flavor and texture. They have some unique pizza toppings that are all very good. I usually get the prosciutto and arugula, but honestly, you can never go wrong here. For pasta, you can create your own pasta by choosing which type of pasta, sauce and optional toppings. I've all of them and my favorite is the bolognese with rigatoni. A very close second would be the gnocchi in vodka sauce. I like to get the pasta-pizza combo because there's always a lot of sauce for me to dip my ciabatta crust into. All in all, it's just a very wholesome meal that is great in flavor and very cost-efficient. This location is always so busy during lunch so I'd recommend going right before noon or half past if you want to avoid the rush. Definitely try this place if you're nearby trying to decide on what to eat!

Nice lunch place that understandably becomes very busy at lunchtime. It is counter service with the pizza on display. There are several lunch combos to select from, I choose the pizza and half pasta with drink combo. Spaghetti with meat sauce was very hot and tasty so I let it cool while I enjoyed the 3 meat pizza that had a thick crispy crust with a tasty tomato sauce. Overall experience was good I will return.

This place has one of the best pizza in downtown. Mostly they have people ordering home delivery or takeout pizza.

Very much like the walk up pizza counters in Rome. Good, fast and filling by the slice pizza. Try the sausage and potato if you've never had it before. Spice it with a dash of red pepper flakes so common in the pizza joints here.

Delicious, delicious, delicious. This is a very small and busy place. During lunchtime it is crowded and there's not much room to be. People usually order to go. You can choose between pizza or pasta or sandwich. I ordered pasta alfredo and was soooooo delicious for a fast food. And the price is fair.
