The ladies and I took to the streets of DC and happened upon @801dc. Located not too far from the Howard theatre and Howard University ????????. The roof top bar was definitely a vibe but too crowded to fully dig in and enjoy our meals so we decided to sit on the second level. Let?s talk about the food AAAAMMAZZINNGGG ???????? What M R doesn't like about 801 Restaurant And Bar:
Awful experience. Came for happy hour. Server, Kiah, was pleasant at first. Seated and just ignored for probably 30-45 mins while every other table was well attended. It felt very targeted and not sure why. Asked for plates, no. Asked for more drinks, never showed up (but did on the bill). Literally watched her look at us and just walk away making sure the tables next to us were very well satisfied. And the kicker is... View all feedback.
The food is reasonably priced and arrived quickly! The truffle burger and fries were delicious, and the pura vida bowl had excellent seasoning. The spiked cider was a nice touch too. I'm also a big fan of the covered roof with heat lamps!
The service was prompt and efficient. The bottomless mimosas are reasonably priced and offer four different flavors, making it enjoyable to mix and match. While the food fell a bit short, which prevented me from giving a full 5-star rating, I still had a great time overall. I encourage everyone to come and form their own opinion.
The ladies and I ventured through the streets of DC and stumbled upon @801dc, conveniently located near the Howard Theatre and Howard University. The rooftop bar had a great atmosphere, but it was a bit too crowded for us to relax and enjoy our meals, so we opted for a table on the second level instead. Now, let's talk about the food—absolutely amazing! We had the kale salad with salmon, asparagus salad with salmon, grilled chicken, and the Pura Vida Bowl. Overall, I’d rate the food a perfect 10/10 and the staff also gets a 10/10. Our bartender was excellent!
A great little spot you might miss if you weren't looking! The establishment was recommended by my college kid who has great taste buds, is a lover of trendy spots and can be a little frugal. Great brunch menu options... highlights included the peach bellini, steak and eggs, bottomless mimosas (for a great price! And this breakfast sandwich! Sunday morning was busy, but the energy was amazing!
So, first visit and I was not disappointed! We went during Sunday brunch, pretty lively crowd! It was refreshing to experience restaurant staff who worked so well as a team; not just our waiter checked on us throughout our meal, and they made sure we were well taken care of!!! My burger was very delicious, but the chicken sandwich wasn't so flavorful! Glad I visited! Stay safe!!! ?????
