Fantastic Seafood and Steak!. My boyfriend and I went to Roland 's on Friday around 5 pm. We went early because we heard that it gets very busy and it 's hard to get a table. Our server Michael was extremely friendly and very prompt. We both ordered 'specials ' I ordered the seafood platter and he ordered the 16 oz sirloin. My seafood platter had crab legs, lobster tail, huge shrimp and langastinos in a butter sauce... View all feedback.
What Owen Lamay doesn't like about Rolands Trattoria:
The food is fantastic—definitely the best Italian in the PA-WV-MD tri-state area. The quality is excellent, and the portions are generous for the price. Overall, it's a wonderful dining experience! View all feedback.
I was reading some of the previous reviews and wanted to clear up some facts. First off Roland's had been in its current building which used to be a VFW club, for at least 15 years. They are family run business that focuses on quality and quantity. If you are looking for a quick dinner, this is not the place for you. We go here every other month or so for dinner sometimes just the 2 of us sometimes with a group and every time it is on a Saturday for the prime rib. We always call ahead and ask them to hold us as many as we need. This is the only day they make it and it is second to none in Pittsburgh. First off, the prime rib is enough to last one person 3 meals. It is roughly 3 to 4 inches thick and 5 by 9 inches and is cooked on the bone. It includes a soup or salad a veggie and a side starch for $30.00. Roland, Cheryl, Vincent, and Michael are all great. To really tell you how great this place is. We have been there twice since Feb. Both times at 5 pm and both times they were turning people away that did not have reservations. The back room easily seats 100 people. One of the best kept secrets in Washington, Pittsburgh, and on urbanspoon.
One of the few left. There are few restaurants left that really truly make their own food. This is absolutely my favorite pasta place and I have tried many over my years! Special occasions, we go to Rowlands!! We don't care that it isn't glitzy and formal, the food is what counts! My biggest concern is that everyone will find out and it will be crowded when I want to go! : If you aren't happy with your dinner here, I won't be asking for your opinion on food!! Have a great dinner...
Very nice atmosphere, great food. Would recommend the hand tossed pizza. Everything I've tried so far was very pleasing. Great staff
It feels like home. This place was recommended to my family a few months ago. Just for some back ground of my family, we are greek and italian and know our way around a kitchen. Our first experience there I do not remember but I know it was good enough to bring us back. And back again and for the most part almost every Sunday. <br/ <br/ The food feels home made and made with care. You know that it is real, and any extra time that you wait, you know it is because everything is being made fresh. Their sauce is great and is the good balance of flavors. Their Chicken Marcella is sweet and addicting, but i keep getting the Chicken Parm.<br/ <br/ Side Story I drove from DC to Washington for my birthday and wanted to go here, and no other place. I got my usual and just enjoyed my Sunday Meal with my family. We were the only ones there on this late Sunday even and the chef/owner Roland came out. He stop and talked to us for a while. You can tell this man loves what he does. He told us how he got started and how most of the recipes were his mothers. When he found out it was my birthday he suggested his family's special italian cream pie for dessert. It was so different and a perfect ending to a perfect meal! <br/ <br/ If you are Italian or just need the feeling of home cooking come here! it is a great find and I always leave smiling and can not wait to enjoy my left overs for lunch the next day! do not be fooled but the looks of the place, it is 100% a winner in mine and my family's book. <br/ <br/ Must Tries <br/ Chicken Marcella, Chicken Parm, Prime Rib saturdays) Portable App, Eggplant Parm, any soups, Italian Pie, Cheese Cake, HOME MADE ICE CREAM his pistachio is awesome) hand cut fries, fried shrimp .... and pretty much anything on the menu

Our server Michael was extremely friendly and very prompt. We both ordered 'specials ' I ordered the seafood platter and he ordered the 16 oz sirloin. My seafood platter had crab legs, lobster tail, huge shrimp and langastinos in a butter sauce as well as a salad and side of pasta for $36. That may seem like a lot but I challenge you to get well prepared lobster and crab legs for less. I cannot say enough about how great our meals were. We will definitely be back to try the prime rib!
