C Note Pub

C Note Pub
4.2 / 5 (10 reviews)

Description

Nestled in a charming, character-filled basement on Washington Square, this cozy pub offers well-crafted cocktails, a small curated beer list and affordable, hearty sandwiches. Crowd favorites include wings with blue cheese, fried pickles, a generous tenderloin and sweet potato fries, while live music and friendly staff enhance the warm, historic ambiance. Food quality can be inconsistent and busy nights sometimes bring slow, uneven service, but overall it’s a value-oriented, atmospheric spot worth trying for drinks and classic pub fare.

What a wonderful place to visit! The atmosphere is delightful, and the bartender/waitress on duty during the day was quick, friendly, and attentive—she truly enhanced my first experience there. I ordered the tenderloin along with two beers, and my total was just $15.35. The tenderloin came with several side options and was impressively thick, approximately half an inch, with no excess fat. The batter was excellent, and the freshly toasted bun added the perfect touch. At just $9, it’s an unbeatable value! My friend had a massive salad that was served with a fresh muffin. The horseshoes and French dip dishes also looked incredibly appetizing. The pub is located in the basement of Denhart Baking Company, right on the corner of the square.

My experience was quite average. The restaurant has a lovely ambiance with a charming, character-filled building. I had no complaints about the service or the cleanliness, but the food was a disappointment. While the appetizers were passable, the main dish—grilled teriyaki chicken—was merely mediocre. The sides didn't impress either, and the vegetables tasted as if they had come right out of a frozen bag with hardly any seasoning. Considering the pricing and the positive reviews I had previously heard, I was taken aback by the overall quality. I might consider giving it another try since I’ve heard some good things; perhaps my choice of dish was the problem.

The food at this restaurant is outstanding, and the staff is exceptionally attentive. The meal is affordably priced and truly of high quality. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, brimming with character and charm. Any requests were handled promptly. I highly recommend paying a visit to experience it for yourself—it's definitely worth it!

We didn 't eat here, but we did enjoy a few beverages on a recent Saturday night. It 's located in an old Bank on the historic Washington Square. It 's kind of cool that you have to enter downstairs (Cheers like), but there are window and it doesn 't feel like a basement at all. It is smoke free, and the service is very very friendly. The beer selection is very limited, but the three beers on tap were great selections (Blue Moon, Bass, Erdinger). Excellent beer choices, especially since they only have three I was very impressed that none of the domestic macro brews made the cut. We looked at the dinner menu, and it was mostly sandwiches though a bit more 'creative ' than your typical pub fare. And I don 't think there was anything on the menu over $8 maybe the super nachos, but that 's it. Very reasonable prices. I 'd go back in a minute, I only wish they were open later!
