Contribute FeedbackKayal offers a culinary experience that is a mix of highs and lows. While some patrons raved about the delicious vegan and gluten-free options, friendly staff, and well-made dishes, others were left disappointed by discrepancies between the menu and actual dish ingredients, poor service, and lack of apology for mistakes made. The atmosphere was praised for cleanliness and uniqueness, with hanging Royal Enfield Bullet bikes adding to the ambiance. Overall, the restaurant's potential was recognized, but improvements in consistency and customer service were suggested to elevate the dining experience for all customers.
A reasonable selection of vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options. beautifully presented and served by helpful, smiling staff.
That is able to eat down one of my favorite places / take away from. all vegan options are clearly marked, with many gluten-free options also. eating is amazing, and the personal is so friendly.
I had a wonderful dinner tonight. the poppadome and pickles were the best I had. many of clearly identified vegan options that I do not regularly see in Indian restaurants; but this place has a unique kitchen from the south indiens, and the dishes felt new and kreatiw for me (although, probably because I had never before eaten from this region. I ate a masala dosa (big filled pancakes) and it was absolutely fantastic! will be back.
I fell in love with Keralan cuisine in India and I can confirm that this restaurant serves authentic Keralan food. Kayal became our go to place, we visit on regular basis and the food is always top notch. It's a restaurant that serves meat, so the vegan selection isn't massive like in a fully vegan establishment. However, there are 5-6 dishes to choose from, which we consider more than enough to satisfy our needs. The vegan options aren't clearly labelled, you need to inform the staff. Our favourite dishes are Masala Dosa, vegetable stew (the only vegan option that isn't spicy), vegetable Kuruma and spicy potatoes. The portions are huge.
The starter was a small bland, but very nice, which was also beautiful, but too sharp for me and the dessert was great! I asked what their vegan dessert options were and the nice waiter said that the banan frit were vegan and could be served with vegan ice cream and chocolate sauce! the best part of the meal I think. the only great improvement would offer vegan yogurt to soothe the flavor
