East Warrnambool Fish Shop

Great fish and chips shop, I grew up two streets up near the railway line and went to East Warrnambool Primary School across the road. I used to get 2 and 5 cent lollies from the corner shop one door up. I live in Melbourne now but would go as far as to say East Warrnambool Fish Shop would compete with the best. Check out the Southern Right Whale mural on the wall next door. Do yourself a favour and go on to check out Proudfoots, Hopkins River bridge, the Blue Hole and Logan's beach.

It is a take away shop which, besides serving fish and chips. also serves burghers , souvlakis and sandwiches. It looked like a family run fish and chips business to me with three generations of the family at the serving counters. There were specials like flake and chips plus potato cakes plus dim sims for one or for two. We chose the package for two and asked for slight variation like having a Blue Grenadier and a Flat head , both grilled, instead of the usual deep frying for which we paid a little extra. As there was no sitting arrangement, we took them back to our hotel. They were still warm and tasted delish.

Sometimes it's ok, but mostly average. We go to East on the very rare Occassion out of proximity not for quality or price. Chips ok, fish overly battered and still with the paper stuck on them. Appalling chicken nuggets. A plus is they're friendly and you always get bonus potato cakes

Got take away for 4 last week and they are best chips we have had in forever the fish was neither here nor there but chips are 10/10
