There are essentially two ways to enjoy this bar. You can either relax outside on a warm evening while observing the locals enjoying their weekend, or you can head upstairs to enjoy the entertaining piano player and singer. While the prices are slightly higher than at some other bars, it truly is the only sophisticated spot in south Warrington. View all feedback.
What royh931 dislikes about Expedition:
We tried the supposedly £7 Sunday lunch and were informed that the kitchen was short-staffed, so we were willing to wait for our food. However, we were disappointed to find our meals served cold, with poorly cooked meat and tough vegetables. We chose not to complain at the time to avoid ruining the family gathering. When the bill arrived, we were shocked to see the cost of the "extras" – £6 for a cola and £9.50 for w... View all feedback.
We visited on Saturday night and had a fantastic experience! We wanted a place with delicious food and great cocktails, and we’re so glad we chose Expedition. It hit all the right notes! The gastro-pub atmosphere was delightful, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The chicken and sweet potato dish was particularly delicious. The ambiance was lovely, and the live pianist added a wonderful touch. We will definitely be back soon!
I made a reservation for dinner but when I arrived, I was informed that the restaurant was closed for a private event. When I mentioned my reservation, they suggested I must have been mistaken. After I showed them my booking confirmation, they finally acknowledged their error and apologized. Unfortunately, I was then left to roam the drizzly streets on a Saturday night at 8 PM, trying to find another place to celebrate my birthday at the last minute. The customer service was truly disappointing.
We went to celebrate NYE. Cocktails and service were excellent (as always). Eric, Anne and the team were attentive and friendly throughout while we listened to Tony play live piano covers of famous songs, whilst also taking numerous requests from us of our favourites! Well done Expédition, we love visiting you!

We recently had a Sunday night out, in Expedition Stockton Heath. It was quite busy. All the staff were working hard and were very friendly and cheerful. We were a little disappointed, as there was only a limited menu. Roast dinner! We had booked it several weeks before and did not know about this. However, it was enjoyable, a good size plate. We felt the drinks were quite pricey, £10 for a large glass of Pinot Grigio. Beers also expensive. Bottle of Merlot £30. As said, was quite busy, we did expect that, it is December! What we didn’t expect was at about 6ish the lights went down, background music off. We couldn’t converse, the football came on. It was like we were in a regular pub, anywhere in Stockton Heath. Not in a restaurant. We did ask for it to be turned down. Only marginally was it altered. We couldn’t chat anymore. Evening ambience ruined. We were going to order deserts and more drinks but were totally put off. Downstairs, which would have been quieter was closed, we couldn’t continue down there. This was not what we envisaged on a Xmas night out. We could have paid pub prices if we had wanted that. It wasn’t advertised anywhere that football would be on. Not everyone appreciates football. Certainly we didn’t want to have to be forced to watch it or to leave. So Expedition, are you a glorified pub or restaurant?
