Went in right before closing, so they only had a few options, which was fine. I got the pot roast and baked chicken. Both were great. Also got the greens, dressing and candied yams. Loved all of it. The girl at the counter was kind and answered all of my questions. I've wanted to try this place for a few years, should have gone sooner. I will be going back. View all feedback.
What Essence by G doesn't like about Lape Soul Food:
Over all the food was ok.The dressing and chicken had no flavor and was a little on the dry side, I also had to ask for some gravy to go on my dressing.Greens were a little bit on the salty side. View all feedback.
Ordered here before and the rib tips were always meaty and saucy. Today the rib tips were saucy but was nothing but shredded pieces of meat and fat. The yams were good but macaroni needed more cheese and flavor and the dressing was dry despite having gravy added. Most definitely wasn’t happy with their food this time.
I gotta tell you, this is some good cooking they're serving up here. Whether you call it soul food or country food, as this girl who grew up in Oklahoma girl might call it, you cannot go wrong with Lape. This was my second time visiting. Had the fried pork chip dinner both visits. The first time, one pork chop had a burnt spot on a little section but even with that, still good. I love their cabbage and the seasonings (bacon) give it a great taste. The macaroni and cheese has a little sweet flavor that really sets it off from the rest. I will say their dessert selection is lacking. They only have strawberry, lemon, caramel and another cake I can't remember, plus banana pudding. That's only if they didn't run out. With all that being said, the menu is still loaded. Call ahead to pick up easily or you'll be sitting for about a 15 minute wait in the little chairs inside. This is only a take-out restaurant, just as a heads-up.
I recommend the rib tips. They were meaty and saucy. The candied yam were sweet just how like them!
Food was HORRIBLE!!!! Taste like nursing home food! Don’t waste your money!! Will never come back! Not to mention attitudes!!! YUCK ? FOOD and YUCK!!!service!!!
6/6/24 around 5pm I ordered, a meatloaf with greenbeans and dressing. 20 minutes later I was in the restroom with diarrhea and throwing up. This is the worst food experience. The meat didn't have taste, straight ground beef taste only. The only thing was seasoned was gravy. I was sick for 5 hours. It is important to read reviews. Attention Restaurant y'all need to do better. Need friendly faces with nice attitudes. Clean hands and stop using old FOOD products. Serve people with fresh food. Thats what we're are paying for. Ps. I was too sick to take a photo. Disgusting!
