In the rooms of a former gym, a new café opened the “Music Café zur Tenne” two weeks ago. The operator, Tatjana Hartwig, together with her companion, bought the listed building from 1880 and converted it accordingly. The café has two rooms that are separated by working beams. In the first room are the large counter and a small ice counter, in the right room with shelves about 30 guests can find space at various tables and different chairs, which are mixed colorfully by style. There are still some decorations missing, but this will be retrieved in the next few weeks. In front of the café there are some wooden tables and chairs under parasols that are used in the currently sunny weather, so also by us. If required, the outdoor spaces are expanded by beer tables and benches. In addition to coffee specialities and cool drinks, the offer also offers small bistro snacks, ice cream, cakes. On the menu you will find two homemade soups, crêpes (sweet and hearty also Swedish treats, e.g. Smörgåstårta, a hearty Swedish cake, a sandwich or bread cake consisting of several layers and can be prepared with very different ingredients, such as salmon, crabs, tuna, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc. During our first visit we had ordered the snipple bean soup, the goulash soup and a piece of sandwich cake (each 3,50 €). Everyone grabbed each plate and the unanimous opinion was: delicious! Unfortunately it was already dark and with flash I didn't want to take photos to the other guests. At the last visit we tried the crêpes (each 3,50 €, for me one with Nutella, for my companion with sugar, cinnamon, vanilla ice cream and cream. The crêpes beautifully baked golden brown, folded in the middle and then rolled, with the exactly right amount of musella inside. I love this calorie bomb! My companion was also very happy. A theme evening with live music takes place once a month, each with a country motto and the culinary offer is influenced by the respective country. Yesterday evening was the first performance: Rockabilly with a Berlin band was announced, before the café there was a food truck with American offers with hot dogs, burgers and pull-pork sandwiches/burger. I was there too, listening for a while and watching: The offer was accepted very well. In the musical directions there is a colorful style mix, rock, hit, chart music and others. Another idea of Mrs Hartwig is very unusual: it would like to welcome guests of all ages to create a cross-generation place where every age can feel comfortable. Every Friday, between 15:00 and 16:00, it offers a rosary prayer with coffee and cake in the music café, especially for older people. This Catholic tradition, which is not extinct at least here in rural areas, wants to revive it. Everyone can join about 30 minutes. For disabled and non-mobile it even offers a pick-up service. I am very curious how this concept is accepted here!
