View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about CHIFA EL GRAN DRAGON:
View all feedback.

Good peruvian food at chinesse style, it is far from the center of Cusco but It a good value for the food inside this amazing restaurant.
Peru doesn't have Chinese food. It has Chifas a Peruvian take on Chinese food. Often times, there aren't even any Chinese people working in the restaurant. Not a huge fan of Peruvian chifas. The food reminds me of Chinese fast food, the kind of...places you find at the mall. Most of the chifas I've tried in Cusco and Lima have been pretty abysmal, good when you're a little tipsy and there's nothing else open. Recently, an expat friend of my husband's recommended El Gran Dragon here in Cusco. I of course was skeptical but we decided to check it out. When we arrived, we were the only customers there which was a little disheartening. But it was early and Peruvians like to eat late. We ordered the veg chaufa (fried rice), pakchoy hongos (bakchoy and mushrooms) and chicken with tamarind sauce. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. Ok it's not authentic chinese food but it was actually pretty good. Chifa food tends to be lacking in any other flavour other than salty. But our dishes actually had a pretty good diversity and depth of flavour as in, each dish tasted different from each other and you could actually taste the ingredients and not just salt. Yes a little too much cornstarch. But they were restrained on the soy sauce. Service was so-so but you can't expect much. Would have loved it if they turned off the TV while we were eating but Peruvians love to eat and watch TV so that's something you have to accept. And the prices are a bit higher than other chifas we've visited. But honestly the best chifa we've tried in Peru. So bear in mind that my star rating is relative to other chifas. El Gran Dragon is not a very good restaurant compared to other very good restaurants in the world or even in Cusco. But it is very good in comparison to other chifas.
