Crossbuck Brewing - Walla Walla
Crossbuck Brewing
Description
This restaurant boasts a casual yet chic atmosphere, attracting patrons with its delicious food and excellent service. Guests rave about the crab cakes and diverse beer selection, although some dishes occasionally miss the mark. Service can be slow during busy times, and a 20% service charge may raise eyebrows. However, the establishment's commitment to staff well-being is commendable. With generous portion sizes and a kid-friendly menu, it's an ideal dining spot for families. A vibrant vibe enhances the overall experience, making it a popular choice for both locals and visitors alike.

I was traveling through, and came in for an early dinner and a beer. The sandwich was fine and the beer was excellent. Kind of surprising that they add a 20% service charge to the bill, without any notice. I would have left a 20% tip anymore, but now I'm supposed to also add a tip on top of the 20%? No thanks; and I won't be back.
My experience was decent, but I really can't support the 20% service fee. If the fee were distributed among the staff, I would be fine with it. However, the restaurant keeps 100% of the service fee! This is completely unreasonable and reflects poor business practices.
Consistently a great meal with above average service. We dined at Crossbuck last night. It was our servers first night as a server. He was extremely thorough and friendly. Not common these days.
The fish and chips were disappointing. The fish was greasy and overcooked, and the fries were limp. It felt extremely overpriced, especially with a 20% tip automatically added, which I understand, but then the waiter asked for additional tip money for himself, claiming the 20% goes to everyone else. The wine was also a letdown; I hardly got 4 oz for $17. Overall, this place was a major disappointment.
On a positive note, the crab cakes were delicious, but the rest of the food was just average. The fish and chips were heavily battered, which overshadowed the presumably good fish—eating it felt like having two pancakes surrounding a small piece of fish. The server was attentive, and the beer was decent. As for kid-friendliness, the restaurant offered a kids' menu with a good selection, including options like burgers, steak, and salmon.
