Das Sternen bietet eine traditionelle, gehobene Küche, die sehr modern interpretiert wird. In den gemütlichen, aber eleganten Räumlichkeiten spürt man die lange Geschichte des Hauses. Der Service ist sehr zuvorkommend und aufmerksam. Ein ideales Restaurant für ein elegantes, romantisches Abendessen.

He has now moved to ne... read more Even in early September we could eat a memorable meal beside the lake of Zug. The previous owner had a Michelin star and prices to match. He has now moved to nearby Menzingen. In November last year the new owners moved in from Kussnacht am Rigi. They are a husband who is the chef and his wife who runs the front of house with her twin sister. The atmosphere is cordial and welcoming. The menu has good choice and there is a reasonable wine list with good wine by the glass. The steak tartare was an excellent starter with just enough spice to add to the flavour. We then ate a local fish from the Lake of Zug, Felschen, which is a very fine lake fish with a delicate flavour. This was enhanced with an excellent champagne sauce. It was served with rice or potatoes and spinach. The deserts beat us on this occasion! They served a little patisserie plate as an extra attraction. Complaints: Very few. I still wonder why a restaurant charging over CHF80 each should feel the need to charge CHF4 for a half litre of lukewarm tap water! They are hardly alone in doing this but this should not happen when you order a full meal and wine.

As i heard of the rumors of its closing coming up soon I though that my friends birthday is a good reason to invite her to a fine dinner. Located in a really picturesque antique wooden Swiss house right next to the lake, we were led into the main room to be seated, which also have the look and feel of a nice antique chalet. We tried the suggested menu and were surprised with beautifully presented plates on all courses with taste explorations in Swiss haute cuisine. Service was impeccable and the wine suggestions greatly matched each dish. It was an exceptional experience, meeting our expectations by far. Of course the whole menu comes with Michelin star pricing, matching the location, service, quality and presentation. I personally haven't tried their new menu after the change of owners but I am curious to give it another try soon.
