Chophouse Grille - Wakefield
Chophouse Grille
Description
In recent visits to a once-celebrated restaurant, patrons have experienced a mixed bag of culinary delights and service struggles. While the ambiance remains inviting and some menu items continue to impress—such as the flavorful ceviche and well-cooked steaks—service has notably slowed, leading to long waits that overshadow the dining experience. The transition in management has raised concerns about consistency, particularly regarding seafood preparation and dish temperatures. Despite these setbacks, there are still highlights, including attentive servers and a welcoming atmosphere that encourage a second look. Overall, the restaurant holds potential but requires improvements to reclaim its former glory.

Great for the area, but not our cut of steak. We've set about eating out once a week, and, for a number of reasons, have chosen to go out on Wednesdays. So, having wanted to try Chop House, we went there for Valentine's dinner. We loved the ambiance and service, but, to us, the food was marginal. We eat very well at home, so dining out has to really be something special. I know the place is very popular, so you really should try it and decide for yourself.
Wonderful experience-server was excellent and knowledgeable and professional. Food was phenomenal and atmosphere was perfect. First time since it changed over, I know long time, was not disappointed.
This restaurant has an identity crisis. It doesn't know if it wants to be a sports bar, family restaurant, or steak house. This is reflected in the menu as well. It tries to please everyone by having a large menu with overall mediocre food. If you want to get a good piece of meat, this is NOT the place.
The bartender was extremely friendly, and the food was served promptly. The buffalo tenders truly lived up to their legendary reputation. I will certainly return. As for vegetarian options, there are choices available.
However, I was disappointed that all the food was only lukewarm at best. The place wasn’t very busy, with just a couple of other tables occupied and four people at the bar. My friends really liked the empanadas and the burger. The buffalo tenders were okay, but I think they would have been much better if they had been served hot. Also, charging $2 each for extra blue cheese and ranch seemed a bit excessive. Considering the menu, I would have expected homemade mac and cheese on the children’s menu instead of Kraft. Overall, I believe it's worth a second visit in the future.
