The Catchpenny - Wakefield

There were six of us in our party, and after 60 minutes of waiting for our food, we had to ask how much longer it would be. We were told it would only be another 10 minutes, but we ended up waiting an additional 20 minutes before our meals finally arrived. I had the cajun chickenburger, which wasn't too bad, but overall, the experience was lacking. We won't be returning in the future.

We had not planned to visit today, but when we arrived at our original venue and they were not serving food, we were grateful as we stumbled upon the Catchpenny. The food was delicious, the staff were friendly, and we will definitely return.

I visited the counter and ordered fish and chips, fish cake and chips, and sausages and chips. All the dishes were served excellently with a smile.

Visit the hide of the catchpenny and frankly, it is not the extra money worth, could also only have the same eating in the pub. the environment was disappointing, we thought it was a themed restaurant and apart from some small gestures to a safari. it is only really the back room in a pub. music from the kitchen disturbed the music in the es pane and talks between the kitchen staff and other staff who added to the erosion of any atmosphere they try to create. the service was rushed as soon as we had finished our net, we were asked if we wanted to dessert. it is a steak dominated menu, but one of the steaks was not available....unbelievable really. can't criticize eating as it was good.

I booked Christmas dinner for three people not a bad price thought it would be lovely how wrong could I be. Long waits between getting sat and each course. Dirty cutlery and really disappointing food 4 prawns in our cocktails waited 15 minutes for gravy...so dinner was cold roasted veg was burnt and couldn’t be cut the veg was uncooked and definitely lacking two sprouts between three people !!! The Christmas pudding was tiny covered in a watery sauce indescribable. There was no atmosphere at all. All round completely spoilt the day. I complained before I came out and was told by staff to put it in a email what a complete waste of time the management have no customer service skills at all. And the vouchers offered will not be accepted because we won’t be stepping in the place again.
