The restaurant offers beautiful views and features a sizeable, fairly simple menu, but the food is fresh and flavorful. The food counter is well-stocked, and the caramel slice was particularly outstanding. Accessibility is good, with both steps and a ramp available. However, we found the prices to be a bit high. The service was friendly and accommodating.
This restaurant is a great stop for anyone traveling north from Napier. It offers clean toilet facilities and a lovely view of the Wairoa River. If you're visiting during the right season, you can enjoy whitebait fritters. I recommend requesting your pastries to be warmed in the oven rather than microwaved. The establishment is licensed to serve liquor as well. It's definitely worth taking a break from driving here.
They appeared to be running out of cabinet food at lunch time and did not look like they were replacing it. They were getting confused with the delivery of the previous customers orders and had not settled down before taking ours. Coffee ok and the food available tasty. Great position for a quick stopover.
They serve the largest and most delicious toasted sandwiches you'll ever have the pleasure of tasting.
