My mom and I had lunch on Saturday and the steak and eggs were fantastic - cooked perfectly. The service was also excellent!
Found this beauty of a spot while in town for work this summer. Amazing food. Awesome staff! Wouldn't mind getting sent back there now!
Finding myself in Wainwright for the first time I naturally looked up the most popular spot to grab lunch and Honeypot seemed to be the clear choice. I chose to be seated inside in the dining area (the one with windows nice natural light although their patio area looked great as well and filled fast as soon as the lunch rush hit. My order was taken right away and the server was very helpful in making recommendations when I found myself torn with the menu as all items sounded delicious. I ended up ordering the Lobster Mushroom Caps to start and (2pc Fish Chips (and substituted fries for their signature 'Dirty Chips ' as my main. The starter came out about 5min after ordering which was nice and the portion and presentation screamed rich and hearty. The mushroom caps were medium/large in size and they were topped with a huge heap of lobster/melted cream cheesey goodness. It also came with a large Texas toast style garlic bread slice that was great to eat along with it. The chunks of lobster were huge and plentiful this was hands down the best stuffed mushroom dish I 've ever had. The fish and chips came out almost immediately after I finished my starter and they removed the empty plate. The fish portions were standard and I felt the 2pc versus the other options (1pc and 3pc was just the right amount. The fresh battered fish was perfectly crispy while also buttery and flakey on the inside and the tartar sauce (that was clearly made in house was the perfect condiment (for the fish and even the dirty chips . The 'Dirty Chips ' were house made kettle chips, with melted cheese, bacon bits, green onions and sour cream drizzled on top. They tasted great and the side portion was large enough that I only ended up being able to eat about half. Stuffed from the starter and main, I didn 't get a chance to try dessert. Overall Honeypot delivers on all fronts as one of those 'hidden gem ' spots you always hope to find when you find yourself in a smaller town.
This small restaurant is very comfortable and welcoming. The fish and chips dish is absolutely delicious.
Jewel. My gracious hosts took me here for my first dining experience in Wainwright, Alberta. This is a wonderful little restaurant, reminiscent of your typical upper scale family run restaurant, without the need to be dressed up to 'fit-in. ' Very comfortable atmosphere, friendly servers, and delicious food. I will definitely be back, as there are many more menu choices to experience!
