While the ambiance enchants with sunset vistas and a charming vineyard setting, opinions on the vegan offerings are mixed. Some diners commend the creativity, highlighting standout dishes like the vegan burger and hummus trio. However, others express disappointment over limited options and repetitive dishes. The service appears variable, though many staff members are knowledgeable and accommodating. Overall, the restaurant earns praise for its wine selection and beautiful surroundings but leaves room for improvement regarding its vegan menu diversity.
The environment is stunning, eating is delicious. the vegan dessert was ridiculously good, but huge! beautiful, helpful staff and many delicious vegan wines.
Beautiful weingut with great view, but I found this really poor for vegan options. Yesterday as part of a horse staircase we were there, and we got it only before 17 o'clock, so it was over. they had ceased to serve their main menu and served only cheese plates and wee. I asked if they could do a small plate of their vegan options from the normal plate without the cheese, and was said no. the waitress then made a great thing to ask the cook if they could do a bowl oliven as a separate element! I understand it was later the day, but if they are still open, maybe they just do their job?!
After two weeks of difficulty being vegan in New Zealand, this restaurant was a joyful respite. They have a vegan appetizer, main, and dessert on the lunch menu. All were superb. I had the sourdough loaf w/veganized dip (they just use vegan cream instead), the lentil pie, and a quince cheesecake for dessert. All were delicious and very haute cuisine if you will. A must for vegans on Waiheke.
We had a lovely meal at the winery. I highly recommend the vegan version of the starter of cob loaf and butter. The butter was made of avocado and cashews and was absolutely delicious. We had the taco salad for the main. This was nice but not enough of the corn chips and filling and way way too much lettuce. The dish was basically a massive amount of lettuce with a topping. The topping was so tasty but there just wasn't enough of it. After finishing all of that dish, I'll probably never be able to eat lettuce again. They had a vegan dessert of chocolate cheesecake with coconut and vanilla cream but we didn't have time to try it. I loved the location and there are fantastic views from the restaurant. Lovely staff. At the time of writing it is the only winery on the island with vegan options on the menu. I would come back but would have the vegan burger next time as I feel I have had my lifetime allowance of lettuce now with that taco salad.
Beautiful sunset dining and the vegan options were outstanding. I had the smashed avocado, heirloom tomato and five seed crackers for a starter and the vegan burger which consisted of a black bean, chickpea and mushroom pattie, handmade spelt bun, tomato relish, greens and a side of sweet potato wedges. The food is outstanding and I highly recommend.
