My dad and I came for dinner on our way back to Calgary from the Lethbridge Air Show. We'd read all the great reviews and figured it would be worth a try. From the outside the place doesn't look like much, but the inside was really cute and we had an awesome experience. Great service (yes, the server is a kid but she's a pro and clearly loves what she does), a buffet that was constantly being refreshed and had qualit... View all feedback.
We were in Vulcan for work and decided to head to Amy's Family Restaurant because I thought it was a diner. I was pleasantly surprized to see it was a Chinese Buffet. I do like my many options of food for low prices. I ate so much. They have a heat tray which was a little low on food since we came in around 2pm. But they worked quickly to refresh all the items as we worked our way through the first plate. Their buffet also has quite the dessert trays and a deep freeze with ice-cream. I do appreciate me some ice-cream. This was a nice stop and I will be going there again.
So we are a bunch of guide and pathfinder leaders who came here before the kids arrived for a Spock day camp. We needed a quick place to eat for a decent price and saw this was listed as #1 for Vulcan. We got here and while no one who was getting paid to work here greeted us, one of the daughters did. She sat us down, took our drink order and made sure we were comfortable. The dish for the dinner buffet was $15.95 and the food was fresh. It had almost everything of a traditional Chinese Buffet in a smaller setting. It's relatively clean and old fashioned which adds to the Southern Alberta charm. Great place to stop if you like Chinese!
Not too bad for small town Chinese food. Food was fresh. Decent variety. Building dated and tired. Waitress was a child though. Seemed odd.
The food here was fantastic. We stopped here on our way south and am glad we did. Food was fresh and tasty. Probably the best Wonton we have ever had. Be sure and stop in for great tasty meal.
As we entered this restaurant a server (maybe an owner) was telling someone not to eat one of the items as it had been out on the buffet for too long. We thought that this was a good sign. Buffet was tasty and didn't seem to be full of MSG as we had little to no reaction. People were friendly.
