View all feedback.
When we thought of going to eat some French food, we imagined a beautiful place in the country, with delicious French food, a passionate owner and reasonable prices, and that was exactly what we found there! Keep in mind that they plant and collect their...own vegetables and eggs. If you are a tourist, don't ask to drink beer instead of wine, or the owner will be disappointed by your luck of faith at what he is about to serve
We have recently moved to the Fontainebleau area and have been testing out various restaurants. This is our new favourite. True, rustic, fresh French food. Home cooked and mostly home grown. Colourful plates and good portions. The restaurant is set back on the corner of...a residential street junction, a lavendar bed bursts out around the edge and the steps lead up onto a small, gravelled outside area with dark green cast iron seats and tables canopyed by pollarded trees festooned in fairy lights. The setting is very romantic. One huge menu board is placed on a spare chair at your table for you to choose from. The manager is not full of charm and chatter but he efficient. The bill doesn't leave you spluttering and you are keen to come back for more. We had Terrine of Foie Gras de Canard and a Ham and Goats Cheese Salad. Both were simple yet delicious. Followed by Fricasee of Chicken Livers (perfectly cooked with Oregano Cheesy Mash (which was divine but slightly over cooked veg. E had a plate of porc Slow cooked knuckle, sausage, chop etc with salad. No puds but they looked delicious!
