For our first night in Viseu we aimed to seek out a restaurant steeped in old fashioned Portugese family fare, and O Hilario didn't disappoint. What Francisca Loureiro doesn't like about O Cortiço:
Our experience was really awful. We were presented with food which we did not ask for at the start including black pudding and sausage, neither of which we eat. The main course was lamb but there was hardly any meat to be seen, I think we were served off cuts. We mentioned this to the waiter but he was not interested. I was surprised and disappointed to be presented a bill at the end of the meal. Steer clear of this... View all feedback.
O Cortiço is not cheap, let's get this out. But you get every penny you spend. Fantastic real food you do not leave hunger, extremely nice staff and that is quite a lot it. Not much flair, only quality
Amazing place with truly authentic dishes! The food came fast. You don't have to worry about having this restaurant hungry.
We tried the rabbit, a real Portuguese specialty, but has only small pieces of bones. The wine of the house is really not good, what is very rare in Portugal . You can find much better in Viseu.
Had a fabulous evening at this family run restaurant. Food was authentic and home cooked. Family is genuine and friendly. Casual and cozy. Popular with the locals and tourists alike. Happy we found this gem.
