We've been there with a group of 15 people. Totally overpriced for small portion. It only has been served rice, pork and beans and the service was bad as well. We've been waiting more than an hour for our dessert. Never again! View all feedback.
We were a party of five locals looking for a different place to eat. Drawn by the excellent reviews, we chose Mesa d'Alegria. The restaurant is small and cosy. The menu was rather short I assume because it was lunch time. Lots of the people eating there seemed to be on their lunch breaks from work. Service was swift and corteous nothing less than expected in a restaurant in Viseu. The food was tasty and the prices very reasonable, especially considering it's located in the heart of the city. If you're looking for a quick but hearty meal at a good price, this could be a place of choice. But if you're looking for an EXPERIENCE, we didn't feel this was the place to go. Had we gone for dinner, maybe the experience would've been different.
My husband and I ate dinner here on an overnight trip to Viseu and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We sat outside on a Monday night (very quiet). The owner was so welcoming and explained the concept of the restaurant. After we submitted our order, he expressed his concern we had ordered 2 rice dishes but we assured him of our order. All our choices were absolutely delicious (especially the moelas). The owner was indeed correct- although both rice dishes were scrumptious, one rice-type food would have been plenty! We loved Viseu and look forward to visiting again and will definitle be back to visit Mesa d"Alegria.
