Just George's Sports Grill

Just George 's is a bar attached to Captain George 's restaurant. As an avid seafood lover yet my husband is an avid, 'avoid eating anything that comes from the water person, ' we compromise by going to Just George 's. I 'm able to get my seafood fill, and he can order off the menu. He typically orders a burger or a steak, salad, and fries. I always eat seafood cause that 's what George specializes in! Of course we always enjoy a libation or two. Sometimes there are beer specials, and that 's what we typically go for. We love sitting at the booths because they all have a little tv that you can watch the games that are playing on! So that 's an extra plus for him cause I take forever eating crab due to cracking the shells, picking out all the meat, dipping in butter, etc sometimes around two hrs or so. He only takes about ten minutes total to eat his meal because he 's a fast eater. So once he 's done eating he watches the tv at our booth and sometimes he watches the big TVs that are places all around the bar. It 's a perfect compromise for us! Every time I try his food I 'm pretty impressed with the quality seeing that there is only one kitchen running a huge buffet as well as a whole menu worth of items. Burger is always juicy, and the steak is cooked to his liking which is medium. Fries are always hot and crispy and lightly seasoned, and every time I eat at the buffet it 's always hot and fresh and soooo delicious!!! Im always in seafood heaven when we go! One of the best buffets around Hampton roads area for sure in my opinion. If you have a group of people that love seafood but some people aren 't a fan, take them to Just George 's where everyone can go and be incredibly satisfied.

We had visited this restaurant before for a Christmas party, where the food consisted mainly of passed hors d'oeuvres, so we decided to return for dinner. I found the entree options a bit limited and chose the shrimp linguine. Unfortunately, the pasta was overcooked and turned to mush in my mouth, while the sauce had a peculiar sweetness that was somewhat unappealing. The she-crab soup was disappointing as well, containing bits of shell and flour clumps. My husband ordered crab cakes, which weren't impressive; he even had to request Old Bay seasoning to enhance the flavor. The service was just average, and I expected more, especially since many diners opted for the buffet. We thoroughly enjoyed the company party experience and would consider coming back for that, but we won’t return for dinner.

I visited this restaurant for a friend's birthday party and tried the crab cake sandwich. The food here is on par with the high quality found at Captain George's. They even offer an all-you-can-eat option similar to that restaurant. During football season, it's a popular sports bar with plenty of screens throughout the venue. However, it would be great if some of the screens were larger. Overall, I highly recommend the food!

You have the option to order from the menu or try the buffet next door at Captain George's. I'm not usually a buffet person, so when I went out with my husband and friends, I decided to order from the menu. I went for a simple salad and scallops with two sides, and my meal was delicious! While there was a little grit in the scallops, it wasn't a big issue, and I would definitely order it again. The best part of the restaurant, though, is the atmosphere. I noticed sound boxes installed in the booths, but since we sat at tables in the center, I don't think those boxes are movable for our seating. Still, the vibe was great! Usually, when you're watching sports or something on TV, you don't really need the sound, right? If you want more of a quiet setting, that’s where you’d go! The waitstaff and bartender were fantastic throughout the night. It was a Wednesday, but surprisingly, there was a nice crowd. The staff was attentive and didn’t miss a beat! If you're in the area and enjoy an upscale bar atmosphere, this is definitely the place for you. They have daily Happy Hour specials on drinks and food. I can't wait to come back!
