Vining Palace
Vining Palace
Description
Housed in a refreshed yet nostalgic space, this small-town tavern serves classic bar fare—standout fried chicken, burgers, a praised walleye sandwich, and addictive fried pickles and onion rings—at wallet-friendly prices. Renovations and friendly, fast service have lifted the dining experience while retaining charm: wallpapered interiors, updated bathrooms and free street parking. Clean, family- and group-friendly, it’s ideal after a hunt or casual night out. Minor downsides: some worn seating and the removed electronic dartboard, but overall a lively local favorite.

If you haven't visited in a while, you definitely owe it to yourself to check this place out. They renovated a few years ago, updated the property, and even changed the name by dropping "Purple." I tried the burgers, and she had the fried chicken, and I'm honestly not sure which one was better. It's worth the trip!
CHICKEN! The fried pickles were a delightful surprise for me—they were fantastic. The boiled potatoes were just as delicious as always, as was the chicken. The new owners have infused the place with fresh energy and excitement while still maintaining its charming, local, and nostalgic vibe. Long live the Vining Palace!
The chicken was tasty, and the Walleye Sandwich was outstanding. The new owners have done a great job tidying up the restaurant, and the overall dining experience has significantly improved. I look forward to returning soon. - RJD
The restaurant has recently updated its interior, featuring new bathrooms while still maintaining its classic wallpaper. I highly recommend the half chicken basket, especially for the waterfowl hunting opener! I do miss the electronic dartboard, though.
