Gasthof Hammer - Vilseck

This place may not look like much from the outside, but it is absolutely delicious! The service was quick, the beer was cold, the food was hot and tasty. What else could you want? We were visiting friends at Rose Barracks so if you are in the area, this place is only a short distance away and worth eating off the base. The cheese spatzle was literally one of the best I've had this whole trip, and I wish I ordered a second one just to take home and eat again the next day! Lots of free street parking right out front the restaurant, but it definitely fills up. There are both German and English menus available. A must try for authentic German food!

A great German Dinner in downtown Vilseck, Germany. This is an inexpensive restaurant that has great schnitzel. Beer and schnitzel for €10, what a great deal. They offer a side and a trip to the salad bar as well. Staff is quick, locals and military eat here, they are the only establishment I am aware of that accepts debit cards to pay ... Which is a huge bonus. But this is not a fancy or upscale place. This is a neighborhood establishment to have a hearty meal and good time. They stay open late, and are worth the try.

Pretty good food service and pretty good food. on Sunday they give out pizza, it is a good pizza. there is also a table where they can salate and it has dressings toppings and other things they need to an salate on. the steak is amazing. in any case, they recommend here for dinner some night when they feel like it.
