We love this restaurant. The food is always fresh and delicious. COVID has changed the dining experience here, but it's still a great time. We typically go with a large group and order the whole menu so everyone gets a taste of everything. View all feedback.
What Jennifer D doesn't like about Im Placid House:
The service is fantastic, but that's about it. Their food was blah, and the ambiance left more to be desired. I got the sausage and kale soup that hardly had any sausage in it. It also came with a toast that was pre-set in the soup so it was soggy before you could get to it. We got fried brussel sprouts for a starter to share and those were very bitter and tasted like they were soaked in vinegar, not particularly fri... View all feedback.
Made reservations weeks ago May 28th 645pm. Nice atmosphere. Eclectic menu but all delicious entrees. Charcuterie was a nice start for our table of 5. Chicken Cranberry Terrine, Chicken Rillette, Summer Sausage, Bread, Cranberry Jam, Pickled Veg, Ipa Mustard. Creamy Polenta Saffron Roasted Tomatoes, Olives, Fried Artichoke, Feta delicious! Bone in Pork Chop Lentils, Kraut, Apple Mustard my sister every bite! My cocktail was made with vermouth tasty! Worth the try...wonderful cuisine.
Omg yum!! LOVED my crab cake and Brussel sprouts w crab cake you never know if it will be enough, but this was definitely enough for an entree had a nice creamy celery slaw too. The Brussel sprouts were the right amount of crispy and had a delicious vinaigrette. My husband enjoyed his burger on a brioche bun. We will be back can't wait to try the full menu!
My friends and I came here after a long 24 mile of hiking kind of day. We arrived fairly late, around 9:30pm on a Friday, but the kitchen was still happy to serve us and our meal was not rushed at the slightest. We started with a few appetizers, including a beef carpaccio and a smoked salmon crepe. The carpaccio had slightly seared cuts of raw beef with scallions, over deliciously roasted potatoes and a creamy sauce on them (which I unfortunately forgot what it was). The bites of each were delectable and incredible. The salmon crepe came with a dollop of sour cream, capers and some pickled onions and aside from being presented well, had a generous amount of smoked salmon on it. Highly recommended. I ordered the beef tongue entree, presented in a Stroganoff sort of fashion with some Penne, seared oyster mushrooms and a tasty, almost brisket-like-in-consistency smoked beef tongue. A+, would order again, although the price tag was hefty. For dessert, my buddy and I split a bit of a nut cake with a scoop of sour cream ice cream on the side. The sour cream ice cream really stole the show and was 100% delicious. Service was A+, food was great; prices were a little high--but I'd definitely come back! Great place for a meal after a long day of hiking.
One of my dining companions beat me to it three of us ventured to Liquids and Solids after a very, very long day of hiking Mount Marcy and Tabletop Mountain. I 'm not sure exactly how many places were open in the area but I sure am glad Liquids and Solids happily took us in despite the late night rendezvous. We shared two of the sides or mediums as appetizers the Smoked Salmon and Beef Carpaccio. The Smoked Salmon plate was incredible. Between the fresh salmon, the capers, pickled onions, beets, and sour cream/milk yogurt I couldn 't figure out what the best part was. And then, I realized, it was the potato blini a little cloud of heaven that everything was on top of. Really, really tasty and an abundance of salmon. The Beef Carpaccio was just as good. The roasted potatoes, sauce, scallions, etc. were a perfect mix and the ratio of each item was spot on. For my main dish I ordered the Seared Tuna, which, as the menu states is served cold. I didn 't mind, I thought the amount of sear was great and I enjoyed the fact it was served cold because it was served on a bed of gnocchi and sweet corn sauce. I think I could have eaten a full meal of the tuna, a full meal of the gnocchi, and a full meal of the sweet corn sauce. Really delicious dish if I do say so myself! Again, great portion size. Lastly, while my dining companions shared the nut cake with ice cream, I opted for a blueberry dessert of sorts and I wish I could describe it better but, alas, I cannot. All I know is hiking 20 something miles was so worth it because I truly indulged at Liquids and Solids with zero regrets. My last remarks are kudos to our waitress who happily served us around 9:30pm on the Friday of Labor Day weekend. While the prices were a little bit on the steep side, I thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would happily return to Liquids and Solids. After all, it appears their menu changes often and I 'd love to try a few more items on it! Thanks for a fantastic dining experience! PS. Saving the coveted 5th star for when I am able to try some of the liquids with my solids :
We should have bought lottery tickets on Independence Day to really maximize the utility on our luck! We rolled in on July 4th for a quick dinner, scored rock star parking right outside the door, and had no wait to snag a six top for dinner. Liquids and Solids proved to serve delightful cocktails (some that came with adorable wooden straws) and hearty, satisfying fare. A friend and I shared the poutine (a heaping mound of perfectly done fries with melted cheese and white gravy), burger (cooked to a flawless medium rare), and black garlic caesar salad (forgettable). Beware portions here are considerable. The poutine alone would have been a manageable meal for two people or an ample appetizer for a family of four. Our burger came with a side of crunchy kettle chips which checked all my boxes for salty starch cravings. Unfortunately, we weren 't in time to purchase to go meats from the attached butcher. We 'd hoped to pick up some protein to grill at our AirBnB later, but the holiday hours conspired against us. Ultimately, I was pleasantly impressed at the quality and volume of food. Our total, including booze, for six people came out to just about $130 before tip... much less than a comparable dinner in the city. This would easily make my shortlist of places I 'd come back to on a future visit to the 'dacks.
