Restaurante Pizzaria Refugio

Honestly don’t even bother reading this review... just go. Myself and my boyfriend went there one night when we stayed over in Pedras Salgadas. I’m writing this review 2 months later because I’m sitting here dreaming about it ... this is huge especially for myself and my boyfriend (we are huge foodies and appreciate great tasting food . First of the entres “entradas” were amazing. I am Portuguese myself and have eaten at many Portuguese restaurants and I’m used to just the typical bread and butter but this place was not the norm. We had a pizza and naco na pedra. Pizza was fantastic but the naco... well we both started dancing at the table because of how amazing it was. To finish our meal we had an Oreo mousse (also to die for, especially for those who don’t like desserts that are toooo sweet . Finally, the service was great, they were so sweet and the prices were pretty shockingly cheap (I remember looking at the bill and being confused lol Definitely recommend :

This place is cute...it is in an old big blocked stone building, and some of their tables and chairs are hand carved out of wood--it all looks like a refugio up in the mountains somewhere. The pizza is pretty good too. The cookie cake as they call it is good too--it was sort of like a tiramisu. They have several TVs so if you are a soccer fan you can watch the World Cup or other sports events like that. They have an Italian-style wood-burning pizza oven inside.

Great food for kids and adults only one point in high season and at lunch worth booking. The self cook steak is a def must. Definitely coming back. Thanks

This place was a great find. Amazingly friendly service and very affordable. Came for dinner and had the steak on the sizzling hot rock and pizza. It was all so delicious that we came back again for lunch the next day and had the Sunday special lamb on the grill, which was excellent (no hint of gamey) and the lasagna really hit the spot! (Tomatoless in a casserole dish) Highly recommend a visit!

We had a great meal. Pizza for the kids, nice bottle of wine for the parents, and fantastic meat on the hot stone with beans, potatoes and salad. All very fresh, tasty and good quality, racking up to a total bill of not even 65 euro for 4. Family style, neighbourhood kind of place, would definitely come back if in the area.
